How can I 'verify' a data disc I'm burning

bruceh60

Question

I have been trying to VERIFY mp3 files I've burnt to CDs (including -RW). I have had many CDs burnt which have had faulty tracks (skipping within a track -OR- hanging up the player) yet the originals on hard disc play just fine.

Can someone explain HOW I can set it so that the burnt disc is compared against the source files?

RELATED PROBLEM:

Once I am able to do this I'm concerned that this 'verify' may not actually do what I'm expecting.

I reference a topic ("Verifying a burn" on 7/5/09) from elsewhere on this forum (pasted below FYI). Is it true that Roxio only verifies that a track has been burnt, not that it is exactly as the source file?

{ FWIW, I have used ImgBurn (free software) which does contain a verify checkbox and it DOES truly compare the source and target files. }

PASTED TOPIC:

Using Creator 2009 with the Blu-Ray plug in and a Blu-Ray burner can I verify the data which has been burnt to disc? I am thinking of buying all this but only if I can fully check the integrity of the burn. Thanks.

-answer:

Roxio has nothing that is really good for that in either Movie or Data. There is one in Creator Classic when you are doing a Data burn, but it is little more than a is the file there? check…

Use Creator Classic [burn Data Disc Advanced] to make your data disc.

Go to File > Project Settings and check the box which says 'Automatically verify File System after recording'

The software verifies each file that has been burned. It goes through a writing phase, and then comes back and verifies each file.

I think the comment you pasted is an opinion which has never been verified. We've never been shown any proof to back it.

See the attached screenshot taken a few minutes ago.
