Burning Problem

bds1958

Question

When I tried to burn an image file from hard drive to disc I got an error that mentioned a lot of PX.dlls in the error description.

Googled for the PX dll and eventually was taken to the following support page which discussed the PX Engine issue.

http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/conte...S=set-locale=en

I checked the various PX Engine files on my machine and found that the date created was earlier than the latest PX Engine update.

So I installed the latest PX Engine and my "burning problem" has gone.

What I'm trying to say is that a bit of self help leaves you richer for the experience.

But, you know, it's always easier to take the lazy way out? ;)

Is that Occam's Razor, new edition? :)

Hi Brian,

ALL errors reported back from the burner show an error message and a PX listing.

Advanced:

Sense: xx ASC: xx ASCQ: xx

The ERROR message (above) is the important thing, the PX listing is just there to show which version of the PX engine you have, and may have nothing to do with the error you've had. Those three sets of numbers the Sense, the ASC, and the ASCQ, are the important thing in diagnosing the error.

Brendon,

Now you mention it there was an "Advanced Sense" message.

Never took any notice and I just checked out which PX Engine version I had and the rest is history.

If it happens again I'll take "the lazy way out" and post the "Advanced Sense" information.

Regards,

No problem Brian.

I'm just suggesting that usually the problem is not caused by the PX Engine not being the latest version, so an update there isn't likely to be the magic bullet. Sorry.

In your case the problem may have been cleared by putting a new blank disc in, or perhaps just trying again. However the last thing I want to do is discourage you from posting solutions which work for you because that's often the way we get to learn new solutions, and I thoroughly agree with you that a bit of self help leaves you richer for the experience.

Thanks lots,

Brendon

I agree and using the search feature in this forum can go along way as well. Plus, there are pinned topics for the most frequently posted forum questions that are updated.
