iphone videos going in upside down

carolgyrl1

Question

I am having a horibble time. when i put my videos from my iphone into the computer, they are the correct way--right side up.I put them into my docs, my pics, they are right side up. when i go into roxio 10, and get them, they upload upside down. when i take a video from my digital camera, and upload it into my comuter, it loads right side up and then loads right side up into roxio 10. what is going on? i had the roxio version 2009, on my old computer but after 7 months of playing with it,trying off and on to get it to work with all of the videos going in right side up, , paying the roxio help guy who said for me to delete it all and start over again, paying my computer guy to take another computer and try to take out the 2009 version, then install the 2010, to no avail, including a $150 bill, for updating the video card, ect. in my old computer, then i gave up and brought another computer home, and input a brand new roxio 10, one that did not have any remenants of the 2009 in it, thinking that this would solve the problem. now, after buying 2 versions, i still have the same problem. are other iphone users having this problem? why are the iphone videos going into my comuter ok, but when i transfer them to the roxio 10, they all show up upside down? I am so flustrated, I have spent so much money for nothing.my iphone is the newest one.

Have you talked to Apple? There may be a hidden "command" that is being stripped out or needs to be added. Why are you not using ITunes to load the video?

Simple solution. Add the video as a overlay to a colored panel In Edit Video-Advanced. Rotate the video using the placement controls so that the video is upside down. You can then output it to the IPod format and load that.

I will try that, I have spent so much time figuring this out, from being a newbie( not knowing what I was doing) to learning more after many flustrating hours on my computer, to buying a 2010 version, after having no luck with the 2009, one, paying the roxio help, they had no clue, could not help, told me to re-install it, -to no avail., buying another comverter from a competing company, ect. I will try to do as you suggested.Thank you sooo much. It is really bad when a newbie with a iphone tries to use the cinamatic program( the easy way) to make a video and they have no clue when their videos all come in upside down.

by the way, apple said since the videos all go into my computer right side up, and work in my computer right side up, they are only upside down when trying to capture them in roxio, that it is the roxio program, their part is working great.

Just curious, how are you achieving this? Can you list the steps you are taking as well as the application.

I open creator 2010, I click edit video-advanced,click add photo/video, go to my pics, get my video clip, click on it, then, it goes in upside down. Or i tried to go to copy convert, click on add movies, same thing happens.

I also tried to do the thing of ( add overlay) which the guy told me that i would be able to turn the video upside down. I don't know waht version he has, but mine will only let me do creazy waves, ect. not turn the video upside down. any more ideas? how would i go about downloading it from itunes directly?

Perhaps I did not make myself clear. What I'm trying to find out is how are you transferring your video clip from iphone to computer? Are these purchased iTunes clip?

If you have the full retail C2010, it will turn the video around. Don't know what you mean by "Creazy waves"?

"The guy" did not tell you to "add an overlay" but told add the video as an overlay which are completely different operations. REad the post again carefully and follow the instructions.

Another think you can try is to switch the render mode to software from hardware or vice versa. Look under Tool/Options for the switch.

BTW, what are your system specs especially video card?

i finally found out how to rotate the videos, i can add one at a time, as an overlay.. ( i was at first clicking the add an overlay button on the left side of the screen, underneath( add content) I still have a problem, I am trying to see them in the storyline though, they don't show up there.they only show up when i am previewing it. which is difficult for em to work with it. perhaps you can help me with that. -------I found out that all of the quicktime videos are going in upside down, which is how the iphone puts them into my computer. yet, when i gave up and bought another converter, the videos were saved/changed to a 3gpp they went into the roxio ok. si I did double duty and converted all of my videos with the other program, changing them to 3gpp, so then they loaded right side up into the roxio.

To see the overlay track, switch to the timeline view and you should see the Overlay track if you scroll down on the track scrollbar.

To find out what video card you have, goto the Device Manager and select Display Adaptor.

Did you try the software/hardware switch I asked you to try?

I have been messing with adding the video as an overlay.there are porblems with trying to do that. the first video that i put in will not go in asa an overlay, so i take and input two of the same video, one at a time, the second one it saks me if I wamt to add it as an overlay, i do that, then rotate it, I have to mute the volume on the first one, or it plays too. There is music on the lessons. I have not found a way to delete the first upside down one from the program. I did go and take the video that i made right side up, and went up and sent it to the dvd.Sorry, i don/t know how to switch from software to hardware program, like you suggested that I try. I also am a little bit lost at finding the video card, i have been looking around, is it the realtec hd?
