Question

Loaded creator 2010 onto my brand new Compaq 610 operating on windows 7 Home Premium. Using usb connection I can get audio from my vhs video but no picture. Status is "no signal" even when receiving audio. Capture length remains at zero. Set capture length does not respond.

Record time left remains at 19.43.43 The audio signal is loud and clear. The Svideo link is fine, the leads are brand new. The old fellow neads help!.

Your leaving something out, no software can capture anything unless there is Hardware involved…

The "answer" will depend on what you have. So supply that info and we can work this out.

Thank you Jim for your help. I am using the Roxio video capture usb connecting to my Bush video recorder/player via a scart lead to Svideo lead. Leads were bought specially for this job. I don't know what else I can tell you apart from - the only other programme I have is Microsoft Office 2007. McAfee security installed with the machine. BELIEVE IT OR NOT this morning video capture is not responding. I notice that the card games that came with Windows are affected as they get stuck when closing at the finish. I must tell you that whilst trying to solve my problems I have re-installed creator 2010 as per roxio's web instructions. I noticed that when plugging in the capture device into the usb slot I did not get a "found new hardware" box. (didn't first time around either) could this be significant? I plugged in the usb device first followed by the driver disc and then the main disc all seemed well at first! Thank you once again for helping a novice.

JohnHeb,

Did you install the Service Pack 1 for Creator 2010? If not install it. See if that helps.

Thank you - I had a look but being a novice I don't understand "unzip" to desktop. Where do I find "roxio creator 2010sp1.exe" file? Computer jargon takes some understanding!!!

Not much to go on…

I'd guess it is your SCART adapter… Best bet is to take it to any electronics shop and tell them you are capturing with it and need to confirm the RCA out plugs are working for that purpose.

Also compare your drivers to the ones listed in cdanteek's posting, Here. (at the bottom)

They must match!

Thanks Jim - Looking at Device Manager I see it is different. Viz:-

at the bottom it goes -Network Adapters - Processors - Sound, Video and Game Controllers which expands to - Bluetooth Hands-free audio - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. No mention of Roxio or capture.

Edit: Edited to get the post out of the quote.

I did not ask you to download anything, but only to click and see what you have…

Several folks here have tried to assist you but it never seems to go anywhere…

There is a support number you could call, but I believe it is in Ireland.

It would be best if you could have a friend over who is fairly computer literate. With both of you looking at it, you should be able to get somewhere.

Thank you very much for your time and patience Jim.

Edited to get post out of quote, again.

Have recently installed creator 2010 on a brand new compaq 610 computer using Windows 7 Home Premium. In video capture I can get visual and audio perfectly but the status shows "no signal(in red)". Set capture length- time elapsed offer no response. " Capture now" is not highlighted I don't know what to do next. Anyone any ideas?

John – it only shows up with the device plugged in

Even if you didn't install it correctly, Win7 will still install something for the device and you will see it disappear and reappear as you remove and plug it in. (Device Manager - Sound video and game controllers)

Device Present:

If nothing is showing, then your port is not powering up the device. Try other ports.

For the SP1 issue - from the Home app; Help About. Look in the Version numbers:

Thanks Jim - Yes, the drivers are there when the device is plugged in. Only difference is that I don't have "Sound Max integrated digital audio". Now trying to download SP1.

Tried downloading SP1 - I get a box "You already have the most recent version (1.2.193sp1) of RC2010 installed on your computer". I am back to getting both visual and sound but no capture.
