Question

I installed 2009 and it didn't recognize my capture card, i installed a new one ATI TV WONDER PRO and now I have the DAO problem of ERROR 1706. I read the site here and did the run this line in cmd ( regsvr32 /u ''C:\program files\common files\microsoft shaed\dao\dao360dll line and now when I ask to open capture the program just sits idle and does nothing.

Help please!

Oh, O! Another one?

I have the same problem, but I get around it by clicking "OK" to try and reload it again, do it several times (it's a pain) and either it loads or it doesn't and if not I cancel it, and I can still burn DVD or CD disks from Roxio's Main menue, but drag to disk doesen't work.

Listen to Bredon, he's a very big help. You also might like to look at the problems I'm having with the DAO error and see if it's similar. You can find the info here:

Good Luck

What leads you to think that is a DAO error?

Error 1706 is usually an installer error where the installer can't find modules it wants to install.

It has popped open with that error as well as error 1706. The dao error message is last before it closes the little warning window.

I sat last night and dumped Roxio and followed the instructions for a clean install this morning, then re-installed Roxio and walla!!!!!!!!!!!! it works. I did a 15 min capture with my new card and it works well. I now need to learn to edit with this version. I am happy again as I liked my previous Roxio and am looking forward to working with this one. I guess the install of the card buggered the Roxio and without doing a clean install it didn't work.

Right, I'm glad you've got it working, and I hope it stays that way. :)

If it stays that way I'd leave it alone, but if it plays up again, check on the ATI site. Cdanteek pointed out to me that there were a lot of problems a while back between DAO and ATI's Multimedia Center for users of the All-In-Wonder cards. There might be an update on the ATI site.
