Burned Dvd won't play on tv or computer

slpip

Question

Hi there! I have been trying to burn some .avi files to dvd in order to play them on my tv. The files play just fine on my computer, but the burned dvd just shows a black screen and no sound on both the dvd player w/ my tv and the player on my computer.

I'm very grateful for any help!

What happens when you play the DVD on your Mac? Which version of Toast 9 are you using and what version of OS X? I'm presuming you used the DVD-video setting in the Toast Video window.

I'm using Toast titanium 9.0.1

Mac OSX 10.4.11

When I play the dvd on my laptop it just shows a black screen. The time signature and chapters progress like normal, so it seems to play, but just a black screen. The same thing happens with my dvd player.

I am using the the dvd-video setting.

Thanks!

My best guess now is that a needed codec is missing so Toast is unable to encode the video properly. What is Toast's description of the source video file?
