Toast 6 Main Menu Issues

dawn79

Question

Using Toast 6 Titanium, I've created a DVD with several Quicktime short videos, with a main menu. When I first play the DVD right after it's been burned, the menu works fine and I can skip around to whichever video I want; however, when I eject the DVD and place it back in, it doesn't return to the main menu, instead it starts playing from the last point played. I've deselected "auto-play items" from the DVD-Video menu, tried burning another disc, and the same thing happens. I would like it to return to the main menu upon playing it each time - as in placing it into a DVD player, CPU, etc. Is this something I can change?

Running out of options here!

What are you playing it with? VLC is a cross platform player. See if it works the way you want it to.

It's playing fine. It's just a DVD that I burned using Toast 6. I'm testing it on various players - PCs, Macs, DVD players, etc...it plays everywhere fine. However when I eject the DVD and place it back in, it automatically starts playing from the last point played. I do not want this and need to know if there is or isn't a way around this; what I would like to see happen is when I eject the DVD and place it back in to the player, to have to automatically go back to the main menu instead of start playing from the last point played. It's very confusing for someone viewing the DVD for the first time; I have to test each DVD, thus playing it at least once. After that initial play, the DVD will only play from the last point play. This is the issue with all players I've tested.

If you are playing it with DVD Player on your Mac there is a preference in DVD Player that determines what should happen when inserting a previously viewed DVD. I select the Always Ask preference but you may want a different one.

Some standalone DVD players have a memory feature that automatically will start a DVD where it left off when the disc is ejected. I don't have one of those but my son does. I don't know how to change that preference but pressing the Menu key will return the DVD to its menu.

What you're describing sounds to me like a player setup issue and not anything about how the disc is authored and burned.
