EMC7 - Cineplayer MP3 decoder plug-in

johnny*27

Question

Wondered if anyone can help me?

Have had EMC7, including Sonic Cineplayer, for a few years now and have really enjoyed using it. I originally registered my products with Roxio and acquired the MP3 decoder/encoder plug-in at outset on registration.

However have had to reboot/reload my PC recently and have now lost the Cineplayer MP3 decoder from my programs (Luckily I still had my EMC 7 Roxio installation CD to reload EMC 7), so ripping and editing/saving in mp3 format is currently not available as a pull-down option.

Technical Support say EMC 7 is now a legacy product and I need to upgrade to one of the current products, which I don't really want to do.

Does anyone know how I can get hold of the Cineplayer MP3 decoder plug-in (free of charge) ? Many thanks.

Didn't you back-up your files? Perhaps you did and it is in the downloads folder. You might get lucky here but I doubt it. That is a very old version of the suite but I do not remember a mp3 plug in for CinePlayer. BTY, does EMC 7 work? If you have updated WMP and/or IE, either update will kill EMC 7.

No, no back-up files, unfortunately....and have learnt from that.

I re-loaded EMC 7 from my original installation CD - have also updated WMP & IE and EMC 7 still appears to be working quite happily.

I remember obtaining the mp3 plug-in upon registration of both products with Roxio. The plug-in wasn't/isn't included on the installation CD.....

Appreciate the reply. Thanks.

SDteve wasn't joking about IE7/WMP10 updates or higher - they DO cause problems with EMC7.x - both of those were backports from Vista and made fundamental changes in the OS

Howver, if memory serves me right, the encoder used was the Open Source LAME one - and that can be found here

Yes you are right. The mp3pro plugin was available for a limited time via My Roxio account registration after purchase. The reality is that was like 5+ years ago. Let get real, move on with free mp3 coders like iTunes or lame or others.

Okay, guys. Many thanks for your help and guidance. I always liked the simplicity of EMC 7 - in particular the Sound Editor function, enabling edit and saving in mp3 format...... I guess that is the bit of the mp3 encoder that I'm missing the most............ Will try the Lame download. Thanks.
