Appearance of EMC9.0

gps

Question

I have had EMC9.0 and update 9.1 for a couple of years running on WinXP Media Center. About two weeks ago I was priviledged to get a Trojan Horse that took out my operating system. I decided to upgrade to Win XP Pro and reload all of my apps.

When I reload EMC 9 Suite, the Home page comes up (apperance) black and white instead of the standard Light blue bars with light gray and white inside of window. I have loaded and reinstalled 3X with the same results. This module is Ver. 9.0.088 build 900B8I,R03 Module: PX Engine Build 3.6.38b,94 Roxio Core 3.3.0 Build 3.30.45a,R9S Sonic Solutions 2006.

At this point I did not reload either the "contents" or the "Update 9.1" modules. Loading them does not change the appearance. (I followed procedure "Clean Installation of Creator 9 & 10 on Windows XP" to deinstall and reinstall to no success.)

I normally use Home, VideoWave, MyDVD and Copy Disk selected from under project pane "copy/save". These all load with a black and white appearance. If I select "label Creator" or "Creator Classic" these two modules come up with the normal Roxio color appearance window.

My CPU is a Dell Optiplex GX270 with a 3.20 GH Pentium 4, 2 GB memory, drive C: is 100 GB and WinXP Pro operating system.

I have been unable to find anyway to change the appearance of these windows.

Thanks for any help or leads.

Do you have the color problems with any other programs? Reinstall DirectX 8c from Microsoft.

Reinstall your video card/chip drivers from the manufacturer. What is are your display settings? Update PX engine

Let us know if anything worked so you may get more suggestions.

My video card is a NVIDA Quatro4 550 XGL and is driver ver. 9.1.3.6 which I understand is the latest driver update. Directx is 9.0c which per a live automation with Roxio on 29 Dec 2006 is required fir EMC9. (You mentioned directx 8c) Which is correct?

PX engine as I understand has to do with making DVD's. Consequently I did nothing here.

The problem that I am having is that the active screen for EMC9 is NOT the standard Roxio color pattern. The border is all black (white inside) and not the standard variations of blue with the inside being light gray and white.

The following modules open with a black (white inside) active window: EMC9 home, VideoWave, MyDVD, Copy Disk when opened with the project pane data or copy.

All WinXP windows open with the standard win appearance scheme. In EMC9 the following modules open normally: Label Creator and Creator Classic. I did not try any others because these are the modules that I use the most.

Thank you for your speedy reponse getting back to me.

I think Steve typoed and meant DirectX 9 - howver, that has been updated several times since EMC9 came out - go to MS for the latest version (it's still 9.0c for some strange reason, but the dates are different)

Thank you to those who tried to help me. I loaded and uninstalled EMC9.0 so many times that my Cd-key is no longer valid. I GIVE UP! I will learn to do my work with new software NOT Roxio.

Try step#3 of this KB

The problem has been solved. My son-in-law was able to help me figure out the real problem.

I had a trojan horse which totally corrupted my system resulting in my installing a new version of XP pro. When I installed it, part of my account name parameters got corrupted. The problem was resolved by making a new account name on the system.

As it turns out, MS Media player ver 11.0 had a similar problem as I saw with Roxio EMC 9.0 but I was not aware of this until after we found the real problem. To my knowledge, no other programs showed this problem.

So, I thought it only fair to explain the solution.

Although I wasn't involved in the discussion, I just want to say that you've got class, gps.
