My DVD le

provobis8

Question

I hope I'm in the right place for this issue since I have Roxio embedded in many of my Media Center programs, and My DVD is part of the Roxio software format.

Some history is necessary. When I bought my Dell XPS400 a mistake was made in not supplying the capture card that really makes MCE. Belatedly Dell sent me the wrong capture card which works for XP PRO but not XP MCE. I discovered problems when the Adaptec AVC-2410 PCI card dell sent did not seem to perform 100% (subdued flat screen color and blurry images in the My TV option) not to mention there was apparently no manager application.

When AVC 2410 installs it uninstalls Roxio My DVD LE and installs its own My DVD software. At that time Dell sent me another card to correct the mistake, which was compatible with Dell XP MCE, a ATI ehome Wonder card.

I uninstalled the Adaptec AVC-2410 and its software and installed the ATI ehome wonder card (which came without any manual or CD), went to the ATI site and downloaded all ATI driver and software I could find that was relevant to ehome wonder card and software issues. I still have subdued color and the same blurry definition as with the Adaptec hardware and application, so I'm wondering if the My DVD LE uninstall that Adaptec did has something to do with the operation and quality of My TV use in Dell MCE OS since I no longer have that My DVD LE application.

I cannot do a Dell restore but I do have a Dell XP MCE 2005 OS CD, and I'm wondering if reinstalling the OS while keeping my settings and files would give me the original MCE with My DVD LE back (if that's the soluution)? What else can or should be done?
