Roxio Easy VHS to DVD

ddt

Question

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop with the following specs.

Windows XP SP3

2.53 Ghz processor

512 MB RAM

8 GB free hard drive space

Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 video card

I am running Explorer 8 and Media Player 11

I disabled the firewall and anti-virus, and all start-up item in msconfig.

I have tried installing from the DVD drive and copying the files to the hard drive and trying the install from there.

Nothing seems to work. I get message that says that the "....Setup was interupted. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later date, please run the installation again."

It seems to stop sometime when the dialog box says "...Directx 9 runtime"

Sure could use some help. It shouldn't have to be this hard.

Try this... http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/conte...4CR&PARAMS=

8 GB free hard drive space
One hour of captured VHS to DV AVI 720 x 480 HQ, will take about 14GB of hard drive space. Then you need to work with it and save the finished product more hard drive space!

You need to free up a ton of space or get a extra hard drive for your video work..

cd

Well, I deleted Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 SP1, and I did not have a dsetup.dll file in my Windows/System32 folder.

Still would not install.

I know I have a space problem. I'll deal with that later. I just want to get the program installed first.

Are running programs shutdown in msconfig especially firewall & antivirus, have you defragmented your hard disc lately, copy the contents of your installation disc to a new folder you make on your hard drive and try running setup.exe from there...

cd

It worked. Thanks. The defrag did it. Now I have another problem. After I put a DVD disk in the drive, it shows me I have one choice, E:\TSSTcorp CDRWDVD TS-H492C DE02. Below that it says Contents: Incompatible Disk. I tried both a DVD-r disk and a DVD-RW disk, and neither one works. I can't even select a disk type.

Any Ideas?

You do not have a DVD burner but a DVD-ROM. It will read DVDs but cannot burn DVDs.

Well I got myself a new external DVD burner, and a new external hard-drive, and everything is ready to go, except for one more thing that doesn't work.

When I get to the point of selecting the capture device, it won't give me the USB 2861 Device as a choice. The only thing that shows up is Cyberlink Web Camera Filter.

When I look at the add/remove programs, it shows

Roxio Easy VHS to DVD and

Roxio Video Capture USB Driver, but there is no size next to this one.

Also in the Device Manager it shows under Sound Video & Game Controllers it shows

USB 2861 Device and

USB Audio Device

I'm not sure what to do next. I've read some of the other posts, but don't understand them very well to apply to my issue. Can anyone help?
