Adjust volume of only portions of video?

cgrazian

Question

I'm helping my daughter produce a video for a school project. We want to be able to add narration at various points during the video and decrease the native audio of those portions of the video while my daughter's speaking. I see how to decrease the overall volume of the whole video, but don't see a way to adjust the volume of select portions. Is this possible? Thanks.

After you have added the video to Edit Video Advanced (Video Wave), clcik to show hidden tracks and select "Native" audio track. That is what you will be working with.

Make a split in the video where you want the audio volume to start being decreased. Make a split where you want the volume to be raised. Making these splits do not disrupt the flow of the video. If you are not sure how to split a video clip, watch this. Just stop when you have the splits made. The hardest thng to remember is always have the dotted lines in the section you are working with (that is the selected section).

Double click the native audio track in the area where you want the volume reduced. A audio editor will pop up. Use the controls to reset the volume. Consider using the fade in/out options.

As for the narration, Watch this. It should give you enough information. (thnks to karri)
