Popcorn 4 Result Code = -50

VideoMom92

Question

I have a Mac 10.5.8

I bought Popcorn 4 updated to 4.0.1

I have 3 homemade DVD's of my High School's JV football games

I want to get the footage into my Mac and into my iMovie program to add titles, transitions, and music for the players

They were filmed on a Cannon Video camera on small discs.

I wan not able to get the camera to communicate with my computer.

The coach took the camera to a friend with a DVD burner and recorded the highlights he wanted onto a regular size DVD

All 3 DVDs are Verbatim DVD+R They all show up on my desk top with the same number VRD_VC20

I was able to get 1 complete DVD into Popcorn and then into my iMovie program

The 2nd DVD only had 1 of the 2 games on it transfer.

The 3rd DVD will not convert or transfer

I have tried everything I can think of..

But when I get it onto the Convert window and pick my options it always comes up with this Error Message

Couldn't complete last command because (ID = -50) Result Code -50

What does that mean?????

Does anyone have any ideas?

Or .. can you guide me to someplace or some phone number where I can get some help??

Thank you!!

Try using the Media Browser to extract the video from the DVD before attempting to convert it for use in iMovie. Choose DVD with the top button of the Media Browser. Double click on what appears in the browser window. Drag the title(s) you want to the Popcorn Convert window with Video Files selected as the format.

You can do this with the 3" discs, too, if you have a drawer-type DVD drive and not a slot-loading drive.

My sense is the error is due to some problem Popcorn is having reading the disc. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the disc, however.

Thank you!

I tried your suggestion..

The Blue screen popped up

I clicked in the title section & picked the Title I wanted, and it appeared in the list below, but not in the blue screen to play or preview

In the list it showed 1:30 min/sec in the list

I clicked on the add button

It showed up in the Convert screen in the Video Files tab

As Clip 1 (I had chosen title 2) with 0:00 and Video 0 x 0 fps Audio: None

Also when I clicked preview ... it gave me the Result Code = -50

I clicked the Red Button anyway

The PLayer Setup menu popped up

I chose Digital Video in Device

Qual. 4:3

Save To Movies Folder

Clicket on the Convert button

The next screen popped up and then

My favorite repeating message..

Couldn't complete the last command because (ID = -50)

Result Code = -50

So I really appreciate your response and suggestions..

But I still can't get the 2nd and 3 titles off this DVD to show up on my computer...

Any other thoughts?

Not sure I'm using this communication system right.. so I might have previously posted nothing! I'll try again!

Can you copy the VIDEO_TS folder directly from the DVD to your hard drive? If so, try using the copied VIDEO_TS folder in Toast. Does the DVD play okay with DVD Player?

Thank you so much..

The coach found a different program to use on a PC at the high school..

So he took his DVD's..

Hopefully he'll get his Highlights video done by this weedends Awards ceremony.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I didn't get a chance to try this last one..

Maybe just for "kicks" I'll borrow them back and try again!

I am encountering exactly the same problem.

I have a Mac Book Pro, running version 10.6.2. I am running Popcorn 4 Version 4.0.2. I have used MacTheRipper to get the VIDEO_TS files from DVD onto my Hard drive, and then I drag those files into the VIDEO_TS Folders of the Convert tool, but once the conversion process has ended I get the message.

"Couldn't complete last command because (ID = -50) Result Code -50"

Can anyone explain why this is?

Thanks

Unfortunately we can't troubleshoot ripped DVDs in this forum. I don't know what the problem is but it probably has something to do with your source content not being exactly what Popcorn requires.

I have EXACTLY the same problem with popcorn 4 after upgrading to MAC OS Maverick.

Is there a software fix or do I need to buy a NEWER version and if I do will I still get error code -50 ?

Surely this is a common enough problem for ROXY to check this out on a test machine.

Harold

That error typically appeared when adding a ripped DVD to Popcorn, especially if the rip wasn't a full disc extraction. Popcorn also had more problems with some ripping applications than others. I suggest getting Toast 11 to replace Popcorn. If you're on Roxio's email list they frequently send announcements of big discounts on Toast 11. I got one today promoting Toast Pro that includes several additional applications for $80. I'm pretty confident that Corel has no plans for updating Popcorn as it is no longer an active product for them.
