Picture in Picture

Question

I have Creator 2009 and I'm trying to create a video with picture in picture. I'm a pastor and I want to create a video of a preaching service with a person signing for the deaf in a small window. I was told this can be done with Creator 2009 but I'm having a hard time locating "how-to" instructions. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

These are the instructions for when you have only one main video and one or more videos you want in the small window.

1) Start with Video Wave open in timeline.

2) Add the main video to the main track.

3) Look for and click on "Show Hidden tracks"

4) Put the position scrubber at the start of the main video.

5) click to add a video

6) A window will open and ask where do you want to add the movie; chose overlay track.

7) The overlay will block out the main video but note that there are little red handles that you can use to adjust: first the size and then the position of that overlay.

8) If the signing does't line up, you can drag the overlay to the right. If the overlay is time delayed from the main video, switch to storyline view and add a color panel ahead of the main video. Perhaps add a title on it. That will allow you to move the overlay to the left.

That's it. It is pretty simple. This image will show how should look. It is for rotating the overlay but the other part of the image should help give you an idea.

Post back if you have any particular questions.

It would be a good idea then when the sermon is being taped to allow space for where the signing overlay will be placed in post production!

Thank you for the Picture in Picture instructions, they worked perfectly. I now have a 30 minute Main video on the main track and a 30 minute sign language video on the overlay track. I want to render them so I will have one AVI file to upload to a sermon website. I don't want to burn a DVD. Please help. Thank you again.

From VideoWave, click on the icon above the preview window for outputting the video to a file. Select "all" and then the format you want. Name the file and select where you want it placed. Remember that there are a lot of different AVI types. so identify and chose carefully. It must be a pretty major web site since AVI files can be very large.
