easy VHS to DVD

I have purchased the easy VHS to DVD. I have followed the instructions to the letter, but when it gets to the point of clicking capture now , the button does not highlight and does not work. I am at a loss! Any thoughtd would be usefull. I am in england and the it set on PAL1.

UK, are you using a scart adapter?
