Editing TV File

Hi, I am new to video/editing so apologies if this is a basic question, can anyone tell me how to edit (or can I?) a Windows Media Centre captured TV program with a file extension of *.AVI.WTV with Roxio Creator10 Pro. Creator10 cannot see the file and if I rename and remove the .WTV extension Win Media Player cannot play the file. I have recorded previous TV programs which I can/have edited.

You have to convert it into a more conventional format: Google

If you are on Windows 7, right click on the .WTV file and choose to convert to DVR-MS which is an acceptable/usable format.
