Can't add movie in MyDVD

SnowQueen

Question

I'm trying to create a DVD to play in a DVD player . I have IFO and VOB files. In MyDVD, I choose Add Movie then select the VOB file. After pressing ok, an error message pops up "Add movie operation failed c2000003". Same thing if I choose IFO file. Also, when I select 'Preview' I get audio but no video. Help, please.

What is the Source of these files, where did they come from?

It's a Bollywood DVD - :(

A few issues…

It may be copy protected?

Could be a Region issue?

2 things to try:

Copy the VIDEO_TS folder from the DVD to your HDD. Attempt to add from there.

Failing that, rename the xxxx. VOB files to xxxx. mpg. Then add the mpg files.

BUT keep in mind, copy protection is International and it is illegal to make a copy of digital media!!!

Disc is not copy protected

There's no region indicated and the dvd plays fine in a dvd player and on my computer. If it's a different region, would that prevent the preview option from working properly?

While I was waiting to hear back from you, I did copy the vob files to my hard drive - same result

Copy that - pun!!!

I will try renaming the file and let you know the outcome. But, if the file is renamed to mpg and I can successfully burn it to a dvd, will it still play on a dvd player? I'm on a very steep learning curve so any push/pull you can provide is much appreciated.

Just to clarify, "Copy protected" doesn't mean you won't be able to copy the files off the DVD, it means they're encrypted, so that a program like MyDVD and Videowave won't be able to use them. The DVD will still play fine on your set top player, or your PC. If it is a commercially produced and sold DVD, then it's probably encrypted, and no Roxio products will help you copy it.

Understood. I know Roxio will neither copy an encrypted disc nor will I receive support to do so.

I'm new to all this and am trying to understand what's happening.

How do I know if the files are encrypted? Is the error message from Roxio (Add movie operation failed c000003) implying that the files are encrypted? Why doesn't it say that specifically?

If the disc I purchased from a retailer (albeit independent) and in shrink-wrap (which can be done at home, I know) is not encrypted, theoretically speaking, Roxio would not complain about the files, is that correct?

As always, I appreciate any assistance and education you can provide to me!

What about Renaming the files as I suggested???

There are different protections that will prevent from using the video content and converting into any other form. They include Region protection or RCE, bad sectors inclusion, CSS protection, APS, ARccOS etc. which necessarily mean that the DVD is not encrypted. I suggest considering different forums to find out more about the DVD in question.

Thank you. I appreciate all advice. By other forums, do you mean other suppliers of DVD products or do you simply mean a different discussion group?

I think that he meant a forum that discusses Bollywood dvds, which would not be in the Roxio forums.

Try doing a Google search for Bollywood forums. Maybe you will find some discussion groups that discuss copying the Bollywood dvds.
