How on earth do you update this product

gvalliant

Question

I'm using Vista. Installed the software. I ran into the "Signal Protected" error. Downloaded the upgrade for Vista / XP. The upgrade patch gave the dialog box saying the software cannot be located on my system. I see this is a common problem. I couldn't find any clear answers in the forum. I emailed customer support. They respond with a painful long procedure right down to editing the registry. Which I did. I know what I am doing. Of course it did nothing. Is it just time to get another product or does someone out there have a fix for this???

You "installed the software". Which software did you install please? [suite name and version number is minimum required] This can be obtained by running the program and going to Help > About this software.

You "Downloaded the upgrade". What did you download, please?

-There is an update for the Windows 7 compatible version

-There is a Service Pack No.2 for Easy VHS to DVD [either version??] which is not compatible with Windows 7.

Was it one of these, or something else?

I'm not being picky or pedantic, but with so many versions of everything around it is essential you be exact. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for writing. Idecided to check again after my re-install. It is Easy VHS to DVD for XP / Vista version 1.1.125 SP2 on Vista. Now I'm a less concerned after re-installing from my CD. On the first installation the version was different - version 1.1.115 as I recall and there was no SP2 indicated in the version number. The upgrade I downloaded several days ago was for SP2 for Vista and XP and it did not recognize software on my system after my first or second install from the CD. Now I apparently have SP2. I have no idea how that happened, a little magic since both times installs were performed from precisely the same CD???

I will try this again tonight and see if the "Signal Protected" problem is gone. That is all I care about and that is what SP2 is supposed to do. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

so I tried tonight and recorded 2 hours from my Super8 VCR fairly clean with no "Signal Protected" problem. I seeem to be OK now. No idea how that happened. Doesn't matter, my problem seems to be solved.

That's quite excellent, because I can't work out how it happened either.

However it's good to know that you're good to go.
