Can't install Roxio 2009

kasportsguru

Question

I tried the clean install and now when I click desktop shortcut I get missing shortcut popup saying windows is searching for RoxioCentralFx.exe.

Im running vista 32 bit and any help would be appreciated. I can't believe I spent money on this software that doesnt work. Never again with Roxio and I doubt they even care losing customers.

Desktop shortcut to what? What has the title of this thread have to do with a clean install? That RoxioCenteralFx.exe is on your computer as part of the program.

Why did you do a clean install? If you were having issues, it may not be with the program. When you did reinstall did you follow these directions?

Try uninstalling the program again. Try Revo Uninstaller in the MODERATE mode. After it finishes, reboot, do the things in the linked file ad then reinstall to a defragged hard drive.

You turn a lot of people who want to help off via your last paragraph. Chances are that your computer doesn't meet the specs or there is something wrong with your method of installation )e.g.; instaling with your anti-virus running). Again, why did you have to do a clean install. The product has been out of "print" for several months so unless you installed it and never used it, it must have worked sometime.

Ok I did what you said now when i try to open it says missing shotcut and has browse button. Thanks for your help.

.... and what about the rest of the questions I asked? I didn't think and post about what was needed to answer your questions just for fun.

I'm not sure I understand your reply. Are you saying that it still doesn't work or that there is a new and different problem?

Are you aware that "download" and "install" are two unrelated words?

"Download" means to have something from the internet put onto your computer, as to "download a file". Compare "upload", as to "upload a picture to a website".

"Install" means to put a program on your computer so that it will run - to "install a program".

When you say you "can't download Roxio 2009" are you meaning you can't download it from the internet (since Creator 2009 has been superceeded by Crseator 2010 that is probably true) or that you can't install it from a DVD or CD to your computer?

Pardon me for the misleading title. I am trying to install a full boxed retail version of 2009.

skinis: I was meaning the desktop shortcut to roxio 2009. However I finally got it installed and now a pop-up window keeps trying to intall roxio? I can get into roxio even with the pop-up but when i try to click on icons such as copy disk a new pop-up says png file not found? I have CC cleaner, spybot and NOD 32 on my pc fyi in case that could be a conflict.

Lynn: I mean install sorry to confuse you.

Brendon: Thanks for the kind remarks cool guy

If NOD32 is an anti-virus and you had that active then yes, it probably screwed up the installation.

1) Turn it off. Go to Windows Add or Remove Programs and use the repair function on it.

If that works, great. If not

1) Use Revo uninstaller in the Moderate mode to get rid of the installation.

2) Use CCleaner to get rid of the junk files. Do not use the registry cleaner.

3) Defrag your hard drive.

4) Follow these instructions to prepare your computer for the re-installation All common sense and you probably had already done these things.

5) reinstall.

If that still dosn't work, you will need to do a clean install. As defined here. The link is for XP but scroll to the bottom of that page to get the instructions for Vista and W7. Print off the correct one and keep it by you as you run through the procedures. Don't skip any steps or add any.

There isn't a repair option for roxio 2009 in programs and features but there is for other programs. Is there another way to repair it? Thx

Sorry, I was thinking of the repair option in Creator 2010 -- I'm getting old !

No, try the second suggestion - Revo Uninstaller in the Moderate Mode.

If that doesn't fix it, go on to suggestion 3 (Clean Install).

Still doesn't work. Should I wipe my pc and re-install vista?

If you are going that far, use Revo Uninstaller in the most stringent mode. One other person said that it worked. Just be careful and check the registry entries that it is trying to clean out.

Not being a digital guru I have tried since 2009 to use this program DO as mentioned and use revo to uninstall worked for me with a big surprise how many times 2009 tried to replicate itself (right clicking started it trying to install again) I have finnally installed this program seems slow as hell to open but that is a differant issue.Found that 2009 has conflicts with Blackberry software that uses roxio media manager revo, blackberry then install 2009 then put the blackberry software back down load pack 4 and install .Only took me the best part of a year to get this to work ,Still it has made me go through al files and folders to delete rubbish,Hope this helps have you got any phone software that uses roxio?

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. A suggestion though. Remove the Media Manager that you installed with your BlackBerry and use the Media Manager in Creator 2009 to sync or move your files from/to your computer and Blackberry.

If you used Revo Uninstaller in the Moderate Mode to Uninstall Creator 2009, then the program would NOT try to reinstall on its own. Perhaps it was the Media Manager from Blackberry that was giving you the problem.

Look at the image; it is from Creator 2010 but it SHOULD be similar to what you have.
