VHStoDVD uninstalled Roxio 2010 Pro?

Steve_S

Question

Here is an odd one - I purchased Roxio Creator Pro 2010 - Installed, working perfectly. Then I purchased Roxio easy VHStoDVD and installed it - During the install, it removed Roxio 2010 Pro? Why on earth would it do that?

I decided to install VHS to DVD first and then Roxio Pro - But it wants to uninstall VHS to DVD? So, the two cannot be used together?

You bought the W-7 Version of Roxio Easy VHS to DVD that is based on Roxio Creator 2010, that's why in uninstalled C2010...

You need to do a clean uninstall of both look in my signature below, use the correct one for your operating system.

Reinstall C2010 Pro, in installs the drivers for the USB Capture Device, that is all you need from Easy VHS to DVD, C2010 contains the programs you need..

Have a read through this post it shows the Capture Device Drivers getting installed...

VHStoDVD is a subset of Roxio Creator 2010. Try installing Creator 2010 over VHStoDVD.

Good suggestion firenhancer---however don't plan on removing either one later on (even with the "clean Install" methods. You're asking for a heap of trouble.

True. But in theory as cd indicated, VHStoDVD is redundant :) The OP did not really need this product besides owning USB capture device. The OP has a choice to refund VHStoDVD and just obtain USB capture device.

Understand that firenhancer, but my point was that after having installed them both you run into lots of problems when trying to uninstall either or both of them, to start over with a new good install. Maybe if the OP gives cd's suggestions a try we will find out ?? (uninstalling that is).

Thanks for the help - I just reinstalled Roxio 2010 and it does recognize the USB device so hopefully I will not have any of the issues with the install/uninstall problems mentioned :)

Glad things are working.

In such a scenario, one can always follow standard uninstall process first before a clean install is attempted which ofcourse, will require both products removed.

Glad you have the 2010 installed and running O.K.. Have you tried to uninstall the VHS2DVD yet ?? If not, my suggestion is if you have the 2010 running O.K., just leave things the way they are <_<

That only applied to C2009. I had no problem installing VHS2DVD with C2010 installed and both both programs worked. It was only when uninstalling VHS2DVD did it wreck C2010. A repair install though fixed everything.

That's exactly what I found out too Walt. Installed both (VHS2DVD & C2010) and both ran O.K. But then when I didn't want VHS2DVD on that same computer and tried everything to get it uninstalled is when you know what hit the fan !!
