What videocard would be good for Roxio Creator software?

Garren

Question

Building a new computer for my mother and would like to know if there is a line of videocards out there that are specifically built for this kind of program. Does Roxio recommend a certain kind of videocard? I'm wanting one that will make it run pretty good, and not just simply meet the specs. Or does the integrated video on the new motherboards of today work well with Roxio?

I'd like to add for those that might stumble into this thread looking for info on the Radeon 4350 card included with many Dell Systems........

The information found in this Roxio sticky thread below is incomplete as it does not include the Radeon 4350 card (4300 series), which is "Stream" capable according to ATI. If your Dell PC came equipped with this video card, after updating to the latest ATI drivers you should be all set for the best performance out of Roxio 2010. (although the Radeon line includes much better and advanced cards than the 4350)

Go to several of the websites that sell computer gear (i.e. newegg.com) and check out all the video cards available and pick one that your pocket book can afford. Several excellent video cards are available for under $200. A good dedicated video card will serve you far better that an on-board chip.

I would go with something better than an I3 CPU as Creator 2010 doesn't use streaming for all its rendering even with a streaming capable video card. At this time you may still need the CPU to render and more horsepower is better.

From system requirements

# 1024x768 DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card with at least 16-bit color setting, sound card, DVD-ROM drive.

# ATI Stream® and Cuda™ acceleration only available with AMD ATI Stream or nVidia® Cuda enabled graphic cards.

The integrated graphics don't usually cut it for the amount of graphics work entailed by rendering - you're better off with a mid range dedicated card
