ggrussell
Last week Buy.com had a great deal on a USB turntable and I have a stack of old LPs that I want to convert. So I bought it. Works perfectly fine on my old WinXP laptop even with Roxio Creator 2009 sound editor. However on my Windows 7 Quad Core, a totally different story. Win7 doesn't seem to have a built-in USB audio driver so it doesn't work at all. I've searched the net for solutions, but haven't found anything. Any suggestions would be nice. Of course, I could use my laptop.

Give any indication that you've plugged the turntable in? Have you tried multiple ports? (I've had things not show up in one port, but act fine in another.) Otherwise, no, not great ideas except to use the laptop.
ggrussell
Hey! I've tried everything. Different USB ports - front / back. Searched the net and discovered I had two DLLs missing regarding USB audio. There are back up files here: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository In case anyone has missing files in Windows 7 (and probably Vista, too). That didn't help. Made sure the DLLs were registered, etc. I also found out that Buy.com will NOT accept returns on electronics which is disappointing so if I can't get it working, I'll have to sell it myself. Guess I won't be buying from them again. Yep, I would have thought that Windows 7 would have all the drivers needed for USB devices. Innovative Technology support site has no drivers. Just links to Audacity. I have a 30yr old direct drive turntable with a preamp, but when I connect it, it has a 60hz buzz. I've checked all the wiring and grounds. Must be internal to the turntable or the preamp. It's difficult enough to filter click 'n pops. Having to filter out a hum on every single audio capture just adds to frustration. LOL That's why I decided on a USB turntable. Guess you get what you pay for in this case. Was only $49 with free shipping! Doing some more research, I've found better designed USB turntables for around $79.99 with better tone arms and pitch sliders, etc. My question would be if these turntables are supported in Windows 7, too. sknis
If you are going there, you might be able to pick one of these up cheaper. B&H price. I have one and it works great. It does have the built in pre-amp that you can turn on/off.
ggrussell
This one has some great features for about the same price. But to tell the truth, I might just use my old turntable after all. Believe it or not, I got the Roxio USB Video capture device to work with the old turntable to capture audio. Don't ask me how. LOL It never worked with just audio for me before. The 60hz hum doesn't seem to be recorded going through the Roxio USB thing. Kind of odd since the hum is recorded if I go through the sound card. For some reason, Buy.com gave me an RMA although it isn't their policy for electronics. So I'll just return it.
