Can't burn pictures.

Question

I can't seem to be able to copy pictures. First, I have an emachines box using XP with release pack 3. I'm trying to copy to a lite-on dvdrw shw-16S. I have Kaspersky internet security installed which shouldn't be an issue but it has been known to cause problems with other software. I'm trying to copy many pictures loaded from 35mm slides. I tried a sample of 7 pictures and it ran for 3 hours never showing any progress. I tried again with 2 pics and quit after 2 hours. My cd writer works because I have used windows to copy pictures to cd. However it wont do dvds and I need the larger volume. The Roxio software is not a total loss because I have transferred music ok.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Roxio package and tried to copy with and without the Kaspersky running.

The windows error log shows "Roxwizardlauncher9.exe" as a hanging application. The version is "9.0.5.89.

I have also tried to copy as an image file as you have suggested to other users with the same result.

Do I have a problem or is this a piece of junk? I bought it at a retail store but that shouldn't matter, if it doesn't work and they don't support it, it shouldn't be sold. By the way, I have lots of memory (2g) and lots of hard drive space. I have tried CD-RW and DVD+RW

Please advise if I should give up and get something else or am I doing something wrong and thanks in advance for any useful advice.

I have no idea whether you have a problem or you have a piece of junk  Nowhere have you posted what you are doing, what program from the suite you are using. In fact we dont really know what program you are using. Launch the program, go to Help/About and tell us the program name and version number.

"I can't seem to be able to copy pictures" does not tell us very much. Are you just trying to create a data disc, a video slideshow or what?

First, thanks for your prompt 1st response. I am using Roxio easy CD & dvd Burning in the red box. That's why I posted my querry in this forum. I'm attempting a slide show from the photo suite. The slide show assistant has no information but the photo suite numbers are:

Roxio Easy CD & dvd burning version 9.0.554

Module name pxengine build 4.036a,13

Module name Roxio core version 3.4.0 build 340865B

I hope this is what you need, Rodrocket

That looks like the "red box" version based on EMC 9.

It sounds like you are opening Photosuite and then attempting to create a slideshow using the Slideshow Assistant Wizard and it is making no progress [ 0% progress showing? ] when it is rendering the project to video for burning. Is that correct?

If so, you should download and install the latest drivers for your video card/chip from the mfgr (i.e. ATI, Nvidia, ??)

Larry, I thought your suggestion was a real stretch but I downloaded and installed Nvidia's latest driver for my system (ver197.13) with some difficulty and lo and behold it worked. I was able to complete the process with ease and reasonably fast. You were right n with the 0% progress. Nvidia's instructions weren't real clear but I got it done.

Like most help included with most software Roxio's leaves a lot to be desired. They always assume that you already know what you're doing but hey, if you don't know, you don't know. That's what the help is supposed to be for.

Thank you both for your prompt and knowledgeable response.

One more question, is it possible to record viewable pictures without the cute little slideshow routine?

Thanks again, Rodrocket
