can't edit scenes or do much with videowave

bWRX

Question

I've got 1.2.198 SP2 5.0.0.0.

I have a number of scanned clips and for each I would, at a minimum, be able to trim a little bit off the beginning and end. If possible I would love to divide each clip into smaller clips so I can put them into a DVD as chapters.

I assume that the workflow here is to edit these clips in videowave and then put them together with MyDVD.

I create a project in videowave, then I click on Add photo/video to bring up my folder with the movies in it.

I can go do whatever I want with Scene Selection - but as soon as I close that window, nothing seems to have been done. There's the original video without my scenes or trimming in it.

I read some stuff online about docking the media selector, which I cannot do because my laptop has a max vertical resolution of 768. I plugged it into my HD TV to get a vertical res of 1080, and that let me dock the media and effects selectors.

However, same deal - can't seem to get any of my work saved.

I'd appreciate any help.

Use Videowave to trim the beginnings and end of the video and then save the project as a dmsm project file, exit Videowave. Launch myDVD (Create DVDs) and add the dmsm as a movie. You should get a menu page with the movie as a title on that menu page. Select the Title using right click and you should get a drop down menu, select Edit Chapters. Now create your chapters (either manually or using Scene detection), make sure the option to create chapters is checked and the click Ok. A new sub-menu is created for the chapters that you created.

The above is for a single clip (Title). If you have more clips you want to have as titles, repeat the process for each clip. If you have 4 clips then you should wind up with a main menu page with 4 titles (for each of your clips) and each title could have another menu page for the chapters for that title.

I find that using Scene detection for creating titles is pretty useless, chapter pointers are creating at the wrong location or just too many. I prefer to scan the video manuall and set the chapters myself.

Docking cannot be done for screen resolution of less then 960 or 1024 vertically. It has nothing to do with trimming or scene selection.

BTW, no new video is created if you simply close Videowave, you have to specifically select to Output to a new video file.

Okay this was a big help. Thanks.

When I open the dmsm file in myDVD, I have to click on the movie under the "movies" tab to have Edit Chapters un-greyed.

This causes the movie to start playing. There is no obvious way to make it stop! Is there a way to get the Edit Chapters selection without having the movie play?

Try looking through this breakdown of Chapters and Scenes – Here

Some things only work under specific tabs and there are good reasons for that.
