Toast Titanium 10 Pro Won't Open

Lee

Question

I've tried repeatedly to open Toast 10 without success. After having checked similar questions/answers here, I trashed the program from my applications folder and downloaded 10.0.6a, and moved it into my applications folder. Toast will not open: the wheel spins and, after a few minutes, I check the "force quit" list and discover that Toast is "not responding."

Earlier, before the recent download, I found the same "not responding" message. I tried to reinstall from my disc, but that wasn't accepted because of "rsrc" -- but my old mind has forgotten the exact wording of that message. I didn't understand "rsrc" and Spotlight didn't find those letters.

I am using iMac, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 10.6.2

I am grateful for your help. Thanks!

Lee

I'm sorry but I don't know what could be causing this. When Toast launches the first time it opens the Toast setup assistant which is a series of windows for registering and activating certain features. Apparently the setup assistant won't start.

Try creating a new user account and see if you can launch Toast in it.

You may also want to try doing a cleaner uninstallation before reinstalling:

Uninstalling Toast in OS Leopard

Let us know what worked and what didn't.

Thanks for your help. When I tried to reinstall Toast, I didn't get the setup assistant. I created a new user account (I hadn't done that before and I wasn't sure just how to proceed; but I managed!) and, indeed, I could install Toast and it seems to be working. I appreciate your time and help.

I tried to do "a cleaner uninstallation" and got rid of all the accumulated Toasts I was able to find. That didn't help, so I created a new user account and was able to install Toast as usual. It seems to be working now. Thanks for your help; I appreciate your time and knowledge.

Thanks for the feedback, Lee. We just got word that the Leopard clean install won't work on Snow Leopard and are updating that article for Snow Leopard.

I'll also look into putting tsantee's instructions into the articles as well in case a clean install doesn't resolve the issue.
