Videowave Text Styles

HermitCrab

Question

I use Easy Media Creator 10 Videowave to create videos. In the past, when I have added text to my production, I have used the text styles provided by Roxio. Many times, however, I have edited my text font, color, size, outline, shadow, etc. and then I chose the option to create a new style and saved these styles into the text style library already provided by EMC10 Videowave. Now when I drop down the text style list, my own customized styles are at the bottom of the list. My problem is that there are quite a few now so that it takes time to scroll to the bottom every time I want to use my own created/customized text styles.

I need to know how to remove some of these newly created text styles, or edit them, or rename them (some are named with numbers, i.e., Style 2013) so that I can speed up the process of adding text with my own styles.

Thanks to anyone that can help. I tried Roxio's support web submission, but it was of no help to me.

using Windows XP Prof, all user defined text styles are stored in usertextstyle.xml file in the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Roxio\EMC12\VideoUI\UserTextStyles folder. In your case, it's probably EMC10 instead of EMC12 in that path. Unless you're familiar with editing xml file, I suggest you rename the xml file which removes all user defined text styles in the drop down list in Videowave. Then you can start creating new sets of styles.

Excellent Jess! It works great; Roxio just generates a new xml file :) Here is the similar path for EMC 9 ..(I don't have 10 installed either) but like Jess said, it should be something like this

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Roxio\VideoUI9\UserTextStyles

I don't think you can delete or edit the styles. IIRC, some of us tried in the past, but couldn't figure out a way to do this. If I'm misremembering, someone please remind me. It does become an unwieldy amount of styles after a while.

When you add an additional text styleand save it, I think all one is doing is saving a style that you already have and all it does is end up a number rather than a named style and place it at the bottom of the list, doesn't it ?? And I think that Karri is correct as far as I recall from the past---you can't delete or edit the name.

Hi Frank :) You should be able to create a new style and give it whatever name you want. If you try to create a new style with the same name as a previous style (to overwrite the old style) it will just add another style with the same name.

Every time I have tried to create a new style it gives it a number instead of a name. I guess I'm doing something all wrong. I guess I'll just stick to the styles that are there by default-- :D

I don't have EMC 10 installed but in Creator 2010 (the currrent version of the software) and using Windows XP Prof, all user defined text styles are stored in usertextstyle.xml file in the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Roxio\EMC12\VideoUI\UserTextStyles folder. Then you can start creating new sets of styles.
