Desktop Icon removal

Umadoshi

Question

I am using windows 7. After installing Roxio Creator 10 I have a strange icon on my desktop that looks like a DVD-ROM with a drive letter. Mouseover brings up the text: "Click here to use Roxio Burn data to CDs and DVDs." I can't put it in the task bar or hide it or delete it using normal windows protocols.

I do not want this icon on my desktop. I prefer to start programs in the normal way and not clutter my desktop.

How do I get rid of this?

It's most likely Roxio Burn.

You can disable Roxio Burn for your drive using the following steps (after doing this, you will then need to launch Roxio Burn manually from the Start menu):

1. Insert a CD into your computer.

2. When the disc appears on your desktop via Roxio Burn, click it once.

3. Click on the white arrow in the lower right corner, and select Options.

4. Under the Drive pane, uncheck your CD or DVD drive.

5. Click OK.

Hope this helps,

jon

If that doesn't work, goto the Home Page and in the top menu, select "Tools" and then "Configure...Burn", and then uncheck the drives.

or

go to Windows Start, Run, type in "msconfig" and then OK, go to the "Startup tab" and uncheck the Roxio Burn listing. You will have to reboot and then acknowledge that you made the change to make it effective.

Got it. If I take any CD I have in the drive it goes away. Kind of a nuisance. and it doesn't make me like the product. I like a CLEAN desktop!

Thanks for the help.

Some people like to have that icon on the desktop, I know I use it a lot. I don't see what the big fuss is. If you don't want it, disable it
