CD won't burn and program hangs

Lincoln man

Question

I'm trying to put some LP's on CD with Creator 2010. The programs works until hit the BURN key. The recording progress meter appears but never moves. Then, when I try to cancel, the program locks up, and also my computer. It requires a hard reboot to restart the computer.

I been working with Roxio support by e-mal and phone. I've tried everything they tell me other than deleting the history from my browser. But the browser isn't even open when I'm installing 2010. so I don't understand why they request that. I also have the Service Pack 2 patch installed, to no avail. The copy portion of the program works if I use a CD in both drives. I also have used Roxio's procedure for a complete uninstall and reinstall twice.

I am able to export the recordings to a file, the use Windows to burn the CD. But shoudn't all I have to is click the burn key after recording and selecting the tracks?

I'm running a Pentium P4, 2.5 GHz with Windows XP Pro, 1 gig of Ram, and a 40 gig hard drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have found what I think is a newer driver for my CD drive, but it's a bin file. Do I need to download software to open this, and what are the consequences to my computer and/or drive?

I have empited the recycle bin and defraged. What is disk cleanup?

Sorry I missed this. I have 24.66 gig free on the hard drive.

You only update a Drives Firmware, Drives run the best with Microsoft Default CD/DVD Drivers, I wouldn't mess with them..
