Slide Show Burning Issue

Bull13

Question

When I use the slide show feature and go to burn, I am taken to My DVD. After previewing the menu and slideshow I am prepared to burn to a disk. When I hit the large burn button, the program crashes. Creator 2010 Pro shuts down, the computer exits Windows Vista 64 bit and then proceeds to re-boot. I have tried twice, thinking the first time was a fluke, with the same outcome. Any insight or suggestions would be greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance for your input.

You will have to be more specific when you refer to "slideshow feature" as there are several ways to create slideshows in C2010. The most recommended method is to avoid any of the slideshow wizars and use Videowave (Edit Video - Advanced) to assemble your slideshow. You then save your slidehow project as a dmsm project file and exit Videowave. Then launch myDVD (Create DVDs) add the dmsm file and the create your menu. Instead of burning directly to a DVD, I would burn to a folder set or an image (iso) file. If there is anything wrong with your project, you should get some indication. If no error message then you can burn the Folder set or iso file to a DVD using Video Copy and Convert.

BTW, how long in time is your slideshow? What is your video card?

I have been using the slide show wizzard in C2010. The run time on the slideshow is 3:35 minutes. The video card is an Nvidia 9800 GT.

Is that 3 hours and 35 minutes? Or 3 minutes and 35 seconds? For a single layer DVD, you want to figure no more than about 1 hour for best quality.

Try Walt's suggestion of using VideoWave to create your slide show and let us know if that works any better for you.

I appreciate the input. I did create a slide show in VideoWave. Output the finished product to MyDVD for burning. However, I ended up with the same result.

P.S. Tried another clean install as Roxio Customer Support recommended, but ended with the same result using the slide show tool that cut over to MyDVD for menu creation and burning. Once again, when I hit the burn button, the program crashes and sends the computer into a reboot.

ANother test. Burn your myDVD project to an iso image file and then burn that image file to DVD. If the iso file is created succesfully then the problem is in the burn process. You can also download the free utility ImgBurn to burn the iso image file to DVD. That would check to see if the burn is Roxio related or some system problem.
