Toast 10.0.6 always re-encodes

pupdocdiver

Question

When setting up custom encode, I've checked the box re-encode: NEVER. Yet Toast 10.0.6 disregards this command when I bring in H.264 files created in Compressor or MPEG streamclip. I have checked the bit-rates on my encode in these to programs so that they match the default bit-rate in Toast Custom settings, so I don't think file size is the problem. I'm not even trying tech support on this one: they have yet to be helpful on my other issues. So, does anyone else have a solution to this?

So you are trying to create a Blu-Ray DVD, right? I don't know enough about Toast's Blu-Ray authoring to troubleshoot this. I do know that Toast will always re-encode an MPEG 2 video for standard definition if it detects that the source file doesn't meet the video DVD specs. I don't know about its behavior with H.264 for Blu-Ray. Sorry I can't be of more help.
