Opening .disc files created with previous version of Toast

Joat

Question

I cannot seem to open files that were saved with previous versions of Toast.

I am trying to use Toast 9 to open files with the extension .disc that were created in 2005, 2006, and early 2007 with the then current versions of Toast, but Toast 9 does not recognize them.

When I try via the "File>Open" menu, those files are greyed out.

When I double-click those files from the finder, Toast 9 responds with the error message: The file "xxx.disc" could not be addeds because it is in an unsupported format.

Any advice?

Thanks!

It may be that when Roxio added the Convert window to Toast that it also decided that previous project files no longer match those in the newer Toast. You can still use the previous versions of Toast for most things. My sense is that is the workaround you'll need to do here. I'm just guessing based on what you've reported.

Tsantee, I'm using Toast 9 and getting the same outcome as Joat with a couple of .disc files that were created just a month or so ago -- in 9! Any thoughts?

That's very strange and I have no explanation for it. You might try trashing the Toast plist and prefs files in your User>Library>Preferences folder and relaunching Toast. You also could reinstall the older version of Toast 9 if you updated to Toast 9.0.7. (You can have and use multiple versions of Toast at the same time).

Still no go, but thanks for the try. I don't remember when 9.07 was released, but it seems to me I was using it well before those files were created last month. Luckily, they were only serving as backups to a couple of burned DVDs, so no pressing need to open 'em. Curious situation, though . . . .
