Cine player - no sound on Playback

mediaman

Question

I am getting exactly the same problem as Newbie. No sound whenever I try to play a file using Cineplayer but I get accurate sound reproduction when I play any other Roxio product (eg Videowave or Media manager). Like Newbie I have confirmed that the settings in Cineplayer properly reflect my speakers. Anybody out there who can help?

OP does not specify Windows version. That window may be available in Windows 7 or Vista, but I don't have that in XP.

However, I wonder if it is the same problem that I have in Cineplayer on XP pro SP3:

.wmv and ,mov files: sound and picture OK

All other files on hard drive (.divx, .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .mp4...): picture but no sound

DVD movie from optical drive or TS_Folder on hard drive): sound but no picture.

Perhaps the OP could test different file formats?

All files play correctly sound and picture in other players, or when loaded into Videowave. GSpot shows the sonic/roxio codecs and filters are installed.

I have had that since installing Creator 2010, including several uninstall/reinstalls. I hve not tried very hard to get to the bottom of it, as I use WMP, but it might be nice to know how to fix it. I did report it several times, but no solution has been offered.

I went through the customer care but that didn't really help me. You may want to try what they said to try but it didn't work for me. I left it included in the posting below which is copied from my email chain with them. Trying what they said did make me start trying lots of differnt things and I ended up with the solution below. It worked for me. Try the ones in the drop box in speaker properties that say DVD first because that is the logical choice i would think but if that doesn't work you may have to go through the whole list like I did to find the right one. You also really have to at least start the DVD playing over from the beginning after each attempt for some reason. Maybe even pop it all the way out and back in because that is what I ended up doing before it started working. I think it has to restart to clear an error. Anyway it is all below. I posted it here because I didn't know if they would and I know how frustrated I was that I couldn't watch my American DVD's on my recent trip to Europe because of this. Good luck.

I went through the process of updating all the drivers. It said in each instance that windows found that the drivers were already up to date. They are listed below in hopes that might help to resolve the problem. There was still no sound when playing a DVD but sound works for everything else. I also went through a bunch of sound diagnosticstuff that pretty much didn't help at all.

I kept screwing around with it until I ended up going through the dropdown box in the advanced tab of the speaker properties section one by one while stopping and restarting my DVD over each time. Suddenly I started to hear gunfire... and sure enough there was Arnold blowing up a police station on the DVD player on my computer. It took a little while but finding the right one made the difference and there were a bunch of those things in there to try. It wasn't the one that said DVD.

You may want to make note of this solution I found though it could be obvious as far as I know. Just thought I would share what I found while letting you know the issue is resolved. Thanks.

First you hijack a post and then you double post ! As I posted to the other thread...

"Try this. Put a disc in your drive and open CinePlayer. Start it playing. Left click on the Windows speaker icon on the lower right of your desktop and then on mixer. Do you see a CinePlayer set of icons? Click on the speaker icon to see if you get audio. At this point don't worry about the color of the vertical bar. I yellowed it to highlight the one I mean. "
