Not regonizing?

Vex

Question

Okay, so i have just bought a new Toshiba laptop windows 7 it has Roxio Burn on it, i do not beleive its creator2010 or anything its just that little thing in the bottom right hand of the screen. I went to cvs today to buy some dvd-rs and they are the 4.7gig ones that Roxio Burn 'DOES' support apparently. So i copy the disc, then it asks me to put in a blank dvd-r in. so i do it waits a min and then it just pops out the disc and says Please Insert a blank dvd-r blah blah dvd-dl(recommended) those arent even available around here nor have i ever heard of a dvd-dl but anywho it just pops out the new blank disc and says to put in a blank disc yet it does recognise that its a blank DVD-r because when i just pop it in that AutoPLay thing comes up to see if i want to burn with a few diff programs, ive tryed all the others so far roxio is the best working one and i'd like to fix this so its not me just went out and wasted my money.

Please get back to me ASAP. If you need a email to contact me at its, (yes i know its hillarous and yes its real):

Actually, i did waste money, on the CDs if they do not work. and its a single layer dvd-r. it reads it it jsut doesnt pop up itl just say reading disc...then 2 sec later it just pops the drive open and says instert a blank disc like its not blank when it is when i goto my computer it reads it as blank and nothings on it. so it should be fine and blank and what not.

What is the source disc you are using? Where did it come from? How large is it , 4.7GB or 8.5 GB?

Like Steve I can't really understand what you are saying. Perhaps if you explained what you are doing step-by-step?

This is Roxio Burn, firstly as the icon which appears bottom right of your screen, then when you click on it, and lastly when you open the menu.

It writes mastered or authored discs.

Is this the application you have on your machine?

That's not the case. its the fact that it wont recognise the dvd-r it will read the BLANK CD and then say insert a BLANK CD when there already is one in there itl just pop it back out after reading the disc, how many times do i have to repeat myself?

Perhaps if you were to answer the questions asked, you would not have to repeat yourself. We are not interested in the "blank" disc, what is your source disc since that defines what kind of destination disc you can use.

it wouldve said something if it was not copy protected while it was copying the disc to its thing if then. i tryed it with other ^#!& too it didnt work either

the dvd im using is Christopher Titus Norman Rockwell is bleeding. i want to burn that and its not copy protected so it should reognise the blank disc seeing that is the problem im having with and not wut other dvd i want to burn with.

You cannot copy a CD to a DVD.

I wish you would read your posts before submitting. You would realize how ridiculous some of your statements are.

I never said a cd to dvd...uggh ok answering questions and having the entire problem with new stuff in it. read.

I put in a dvd for it to copy i press the copy dvd button. it copys after a while then when it's done it says to insert a dvd disc (sorry if i said dvd cd cause that throws you guys off ._.) anyway, it asks me for a DVD-R. So i put a blank DVD-R in and then after a few seconds it says Reading Disc... Then it opens up my drive after like 5sec and says 'Please insert a blank dvd-r' When i HAVE put in a fresh blank dvd-r disc.

to answer the person that asked the size its a 4.7gb dvd-r. and to Brenden, yes that is what i have on my machine.

define commercial? it has a menu a movie and maybe 1 or 2 special features.

Did you buy/rent it? If so, that is commercial. If you or your friend made it from video you took, then no. That is a commercial title and it will not copy. If it was downloaded from a Torrent site, this thread will be closed quickly. What is the playing time?

Have you tried to copy anythng that is not commercial?

Somewhere in the above thread, did anyone suggest this?

Welupdate. I just tryed another dvd that apprently was anti burn or w/e it said cannot be copied with this ZIM dvd but this titus one that im orginally trying to burn it does copy but it just wont recognise the blank dvd-r is in there after it copies and wants a blank dvd-r

EDIT:: im going to record a video of the message so maybe that wil help, it will start when its done copying the disc and is asking me for a disk. its going to be uploaded on youtube shortly and i will post the link. hopefully that will help alot more.

This is going in circles:

A commercial DVD will NOT, repeat NOT copy - the software will NOT bypass DRM (whether you get a message or not)

Also, if the source is greater than the destination, it WILL ask for a new disc - for the simple reason a 4.3 is NOT large enough

of course i realize this YES when i entered a commercial disc it DID NOT copy but when i put in this dvd it DID copy but it doesnt see that there is a blank dvd-r in it. here is the video link to see whats going on and see what dvd I'm using which doesn't have any copyright protection nor anti burn.

dvd-r type is a Maxell 16x 4.7gb 200 minutes RW DVD-R

im not having problems copying the Titus dvd at all it does copy it. im having probs with the cd i put in, when the dvd is less space and time that the dvd has, so it should all fit if there is extra space afterwards. anyway heres the video link:

hopefully im allowed to have the link above here. if i am not let me know and ill remove it.

EDITT::went to his site and found out that its not a commericial thing he burns the cds himself so, no. no, antiburn or copyright protection

Could you list what the disc capacity is of the DVD you are trying to copy (the Titus DVD)?

Another way to make a copy of the DVD is to first create an image file of the DVD on your hard drive and then use Copy Image toDisc" to copy thte image file to the DVD.

Vex try this, it won't hurt anything.

# 7 in my signature, run the PX Engine 4.18.16a.

Download it to a new folder you make on your hard drive, unzip it with WinZip/WinRAR, run it, and reboot...

cd

I posted that in post #17 but apparently Vex missed it because there was no comment about trying it or the result of trying it. I wish people would take the time to read the helpful replies.

Well there is your answer right on the screen!

It was always there, but you did not read it - post-39730-1270380561.jpg

It is asking for a DVD DL all the time, so naturally it rejected your undersized DVD R discs because they can't possibly hold all that data…

Before you rush out and buy some, make double sure you actually have a DL burner in your laptop!!! Most do not :( If by chance it does, then make sure the DL Burner can burn both the 'Plus' and 'Dash' format discs.

... and a lot of people would recommend you NOT using either Maxell or store brand discs. I have used Maxell in the recent past and have had more burn failures that other manufacturers. Since this is important to you, don't try to save a few cents. Verbatim are available locally.

Don't believe that 200 miutes infor on the disc. That is the most you could get it if you were burning data such as mp3 files.
