Fundamental Problem With Roxio?

Am I the only one wondering that if Roxio is such a superior product that there is a fundamental problem with the fact that the software requires a user forum to discuss and solve a myriad of problems? I realize that when working properly, Roxio is a very powerful tool. However, it seems that the program is not very forgiving on installs, working with varying operating systems and seems to be sensitive to hardware configurations. This is my fourth version of Roxio and I keep hoping that the next version will be the silver bullet, but each time I am sadly dissappointed. Thank God for the user forum and the fact I started invoking it. None of the canned suggestions that have come from customer support have been helpful. At least I get traction with the user forum suggestions, but my problems still are not resolved. I have lost significant faith in Roxio and am going to start researching other competitor's software as an althernative. Do any others feel the same way and if so what other programs have you explored or contemplated.

Every one of the major video programs has a user's forum of some sort. There you will find that users are having the same or similar problems with that software that are being discussed here. I have several other video program and have used them. Each one has its own peculiar problems, deficiencies and quirks. I keep coming back to Roxio though. That does not mean that I am 100% happy with Roxio as there are several things that could be improved.

Thanks for the insight. It sounds as if I decide to jump ship, I might be going from the frying pan into the fire. I will consider that carefully before I take any action. For now since Roxio is a sunk cost, I will keep using the forum to work through my particular computing issues. Thanks again.

Absolutely.

Their software seems to have a lot of issues but their customer support is even worse... it's a "black hole". I tried calling their headquarters and wasn't even prompted to leave a message, just dumped.

It appears that this may the only resource available. Short of writing letters to their corporate officers, all we can do is just return their products.

I feel the same way. I have had and still have several versions of Roxio and all of the wonderful things that they brag about users being able to do are just not true. I have worked around many little glitches and managed to get The drag to disk to work pretty well most of the time. The duplicate cd or dvd works well most of the time. I have given up on this product to convert my vhs family tapes and old movies to DVD. I a am returning it today and I will purchase a combibation vhs dvd burner. I really hoped this would also be my silver bullet, but Roxios claims are mostly fluff or you have to be an IT engineer.

You are 'returning' a suite that has drag to disc installed for a refund?????

That particular app hasn't been included for a few YEARS now

I'm a Creator 2010 user. I had many difficulties getting used to it and getting it to do what I wanted. The Forum was invaluable to me to find out how to use it. I now use it quite a bit for making movies from camcorder clips, photoshows, properly using Media Manager, importing media, etc. The Guru's know their business and have been invaluable in getting me going. Please take their words to heart. I learned that drag-n-drop won't happen in Creator.

As for other programs, I've installed AVS4You and Cyberlink DVD Suite and had a trial period for Adobe Elements 8. I needed AVS4You for file conversions. Works great. Other applications leave a bit to be desired. AS for Cyberlink DVD, it's ok but it seems everytime you try to access one element of the program you are directed to their "upgrade now" site. Even though I paid for the program there are a lot of their applications that are not included unless you spend another $50-100 to get them.

As for Adobe Elements, great program based on the limited time I had to work with it. Never did get a chance to produce a movie as that part wasn't inluded in the trial.

Take my word. Stick with Roxio. It is the easiest of the bunch, transitions are great, caption use very easy, and it is, overall, the best I've used. My other big problem with Roxio was not a Roxio problem, but mine. Computer not configured for fast rendering.

Do some experimenting and extensive use of the Forums, but stay with Roxio. You won't be disappointed.
