LMathys
Hello! I've been trying to use the AVCHD Archive in Roxio 2010 Pro and I receive this error: "invalid format: Value of bitrate not supported in the AVCHD standard." Has anyone been able to get the archive function to work?
Jim_Hardin
It seems to be your files that are throwing the error… It is complaining about the 'Bitrate of the your files. What is the 'Bitrate' on them? What Mode do you record in? You did see the note that all files must be in the same format? (I don't know if that extends to bitrate too) I don't think the wire connecting it, has anything to do with it… It is looking for files, be they on an external storage device or your local HDD. I do not have any qualifying files to test it with myself…

What are you burning to - DVD or Blu-ray disc? My camcorder is the Canon HF S100 and it doesn't even have a firewire connection. (USB 2.0 should be plenty fast.) I've tried connecting the camcorder; I've tried reading directly from the HDSC memory card; I've even copied the complete file structure to my hard drive and I get the same error. I am trying to archive to DVDs. I've followed all the instructions given by Roxio, and even watched the tutorial to see if I'm doing anything wrong. I'm thinking it just doesn't work with higher megapixel cameras.

My Canon has Firewire but records in mpg2HD format so I can't try it for your. Have you tried any other of the applications that will burn a DVD from the card or have you thought about saving the videos/images to an external hard drive? This camera saves in AVCHD format (MTS files) and yes, that's how I'm currently storing the originals. I just thought since I paid for the "Pro" version of Creator 2010, I'd try to use every aspect of the suite. I honestly don't buy the Firewire argument because USB 2.0 and Firewire are virtually identical in speed, with Firewire just barely edging USB 2.0 in sustained throughput speeds. 5 to 8 years ago, this argument might be true, but today, I highly doubt it. I'll continue to manage my own archives since honestly I can just pull the HCSD from the camera and copy the MTS files to my computer; it's just disappointing. LMathys
That should work… You will need to contact Support for this one – Here Please stop back and let us know what you find. Well, I finally did get a response from Roxio support regarding this error, though they really weren't much help. I told them my Canon camcorder produces "MTS files" and received the standard: "Roxio does not support mts files." I'm not sure why, since these MTS files are all AVCHD files, and Roxio supports AVCHD files... Go figure. I have found a workaround where I simply write the camcorder files across several data DVDs, but I was hoping to use my Pro version of Roxio Creator 2010 to the fullest. It is not the speed of the USB vs Firewire; it is how the program handles (sees) the connection. Typically the Roxio applications see anything on the USB port as a web cam; the programs see firewire as a video feed. For memory stick and hard drive camcorders, it is quickest to just copy the files. Have you used any of the other programs like Bias Sound Soap to clean up your audio files or Light Zone for the images? Frankly the SonicFire Pro is a bit much for what I do. I do make AVCHD and Blu-ray video discs though.

Well it does actually make some sense… MTS file structure is not supported. AVCHD format is kept in AVC and AVCHD files also. These formats are supported. File extensions are not absolute! There are many variations and deviations from "Standard"… We hear quite a few about AVI files not opening. While Roxio supports "AVI", not every one of the 8 or so variations of it are recognized… So while AVCHD is supported, not each and every variation of file may be recognized…
