VideoConvert12 problems

JSI

Question

I am trying to convert 38 minutes of DVD material. The files show up just fine when I select the material from the DVD, the program transfers the material to the hard drive and I can even trim the files and view the video in the left hand pane of the program after importing the video into the program. I select the video option for converting the file to a standard video format (using default mode) and then click the green arrow. The window comes up saying that it is in phase 1 of the conversion and then the screen disappears and no matter how long I wait, nothing ever happens. I have tried internal drives, external drives and several different formats, but nothing ever happens. My machine is very large and only 6 month old. I have a 1GB graphics card, 8 GB of RAM and over 800 MB free on the one drive and 1.2 TB free on my second internal drive. This is a PC that we use for editing HD video and have had no performance problems. I have read the manual (not much help there) and the forum posts, but nothing seems to work, just no output from the program. I have also tried copying the DVD folder to my hard drive and before using the program and still no luck. I did install the patch for the program last week when we got the program. I am running Windows Vista 64 bit.

I am just trying to get a usable video file off of the DVD that I can convert to other formats. We also need to edit material from several DVDs and I want to do that. We were using DVD2AVI and that worked up until about the turn of the year and now it does not work anymore. I have also tried to reinstall both of these programs on my big XP machine, but no luck with that either. If this does not work I might just have to hook up a DVD player and record the video directly into my PC like the old days.

Have you tried using Videowave(Edit Video - advanced) to trim/edit and then output the video to a desired format?

No not yet. I saw another post that mentioned that, so I will try that today.

I was able to use the convert functions by going straight to the video editor and importing the DVD folder on to my hard drive. I tried to do this all directly from the disc and it would not work, but after the transfer of the files to the hard drive it worked fine. The only thing that does not work is setting the in and out points. They do not do anything. I can set the position and select the in and out points, but when I select the trim function it crashes. All I need the export function and that seems to work. I will use other parts of this suite too....if they work.

Thanks for the tip!

Describe how you are setting the "in and out" points with as much detail as possible. We will then be able to tell you what you are doing wrong
