Mac2Tivo with Tivo Premiere

606

Question

Hey all,

I just bought the new Tivo Premiere as an upgrade from my ancient Tivo Series 2.

I've been using Mac2Tivo previously to stream video from my Macbook to my Series 2. It has worked flawlessly.

My new Tivo Premiere can see my Mac, but when I look at the library of videos it says that it "has no recordings".

Anybody have any idea how to fix this?

Thanks for your help.

I also just got a TiVo Premier - my first TiVo. I bought Toast so I could transfer video off the Tivo and to watch video files from my Mac on the TV. I'm still waiting for Comcast to come with the cable card, so I havne't tried that yet. I can see the TiVo from my Mac using TiVo Transfer.

But when I am on the TiVo I can't seem to connect to my Mac. I have Mac2TiVo running and I've added a folder of video files. On the TiVo, I go to the "Add Application" entry and type in the IP address of my Mac and I get "no service no ping". Both are on the same network with 10.0.1.* IP addresses. Any ideas?

It started working on it's own. My computer appeared on the list below my Netflix.

I have the same problem. Mac2Tivo says I have 200+ credible files, but TiVo itself says, "no recordings" I have a TiVo HD XL. The folder with my computer's name is in Now Playing, but it is empty. I do have access to my computer's music and photos. I chatted a bit with a TiVo rep online but that was useless. She had no idea what MAc2TiVo was... I don't REALLY want to reboot my TiVo. Especially not on an unsubstantiated, second-hand tip...

It's not working for me with the TiVo PremiereXL. Same as others report: Sees either of my Macs, music and photos can be accessed but nothing appears in the video list. Mac2Tivo shows zero CPU usage in Activity Monitor.

I was able to find a workaround, actually. I wish I could use Toast and Mac2Tivo but a free program called pyTivoX is working for me now. It's pretty easy to setup. The files generated can be accessed under the "showcases" tab of Tivo, not in "my shows".

Hopefully Roxio can issue an update so Mac2Tivo starts working again. Until then, pyTivox will work.

I do have Toast updated to 10.0.6a. Good tip though.

I've noticed that Tivo Transfer is able to see my DVR, but my DVR is unable to see the library from Mac2Tivo.

It's very frustrating.

I'm getting a TiVo Premiere in the next couple weeks (my first TiVo). Until then I can only suggest your browsing the other posts here. I think others have had similar problems. Among the tips I've read is a complete reset of your TiVo (by unplugging it for a few hours) but don't take my word on that since I'm flying blind awhile longer. I think the difference between the 10.0.6 download and the 10.0.6a version is due to the TiVo Premiere.
