Plug and Burn does not see my capture card

Lee Hopkins

Question

I'm trying to bulk convert dozens of tapes by playing them back from my camcorder while plugged into my vide capture card.

Just bought Roxio Creator 2010 yesterday.

Roxio Media Import sees my capture card and seems to work fine. However content gaps in the tapes makes to capture tool stop. Is there a way to turn that off?

The Plug and Burn software appears to be designed to do bulk conversion of entire tapes and my solve this problem. However, Plug and Burn does not see my video capture card. I found a hot fix for an older version of Plug and Burn but can't get it to install on Windows 7.

Is there a fix for the current Plug and Burn that will allow it to see the card that the is supported just fine by the import tool?

I appreciate all your help. I bought Roxio expressly for converting tapes to DVD as I don't have any other capture software.

Perhaps I'll start another discussion topic; but I'm wondering if there's a way to adjust how much dead air the Media Import software will accept before it stops a capture? Or can I simple turn off this feature somehow?

There is nothing to toggle or set - some people have the gap "no signal" problem and others don't. It seems to be dependent on the VCR or camcorder being used. If you have a spare camcorder or VCR kicking around you could feed the signal from the problem device into the other unit and then into the USB device.

Then use the capture software that came with that device..

Roxio software and drivers aren't guaranteed to work with other devices...

Well, it works fine with the Media Import portion of the suite. You'd think the same devices/drivers would be shared by the entire suite.

Ok if I can't get Plug and Burn to work, is there a way to turn of the gap detection in Media Import so I don't have to sit here to click "yes save file" and "begin capture" whenever a break in encountered on a tape I'm capturing.
