Cannot disable Subtitles within Options Screen

Mr Box

Question

When I try to convert a DVD to MPEG4 (for the iPod Option), I keep getting subtitles embedded within the Video. If I try to disable this option within the OPTIONS - AUDIO & SUBTITLE section, it changes back to enabled. Clearing the "Subtitle" check box's doesnt work and setting the Subtitle option bar to "None" also fails.

Please can you confirm if this is a bug as I dont want subtitles when converting a DVD to my iPod.

Are the subtitles part of the video? If you play the video in a video player, can you turn them off? If not they are embedded in the video and cannot be hidden.

No. Playing the DVD image back through any player (Hardware or Software), you can turn off the Subtitles. The ability to disable this option during the copy process doesnt appear to work from the Options - General Tab - Audio & Subtitle Section. You can see the settings and clear the check box's so the subtitles can be omitted but, the settings do appear to apply. Prior to applying SP2, accessing options would cause Copy and Convert to close / crash. This has now been resolved but, applying changes to the Audio & Subtitle settings dont appear to work. I'm running a fully updated Windows 7 OS if this helps.

I have not been able to reproduce this! With the All box unchecked, NO Subtitles were recorded!

However the dates on that screencap are pre-SP2…

I will have to try it again today, time permitting.

Basically I hit a stone wall!

I tried 2010 with and without SP2 and using Win7 as well as XP.

Every single iPod or Video file I made contained the English subtitle in the movie!!!

The only workaround for now is to use VideoWave. Pick the Movie to ADD:

Then pick iPod for Export As:

Out of pure frustration, I am running one now in VCC from Creator 2009
