Problem With The Software - My Rant

ursanug

Question

This product is almost worthless. If you have limited video and computer skills it will only make you wish you had taken your VCRs to a commercial outfit to have them copied. I have been puzzling with the twisted "logic" created by Roxio in this product and have reached the conclusion that this is really just a scam to get money from you. What should - and could - be an easy and logical exercise has turned into an experience in pure frustration. If Roxio had enlisted real street-level users in their testing phase they would have gone back to the drawing board.

My rant is directly related to my frustration. Anyway, here goes. I have two situations but I want to start with what should be the easiest. I have a commercially made VCR which I successfully (I think) was able to capture into a file through the Easy VHS to DVD program. The file is evidently in MPEG format on my hard drive. When I try to burn the file to a DVD +R disk on my computer's D drive I run into two problems: 1. The "My DVD" screen, through which I am trying to burn the DVD, does not let me designate where the MPEG file is located. I don't know how MY DVD would know where to look unless I tell it where to look. Problem 2: Regardless of where My DVD is trying to look for the file, I repeatedly get a pop up box that tells me to "Please insert valid media." I tried inserting several blank DVD +R disks in sequence but the pop up box keeps appearing.

My second situation is more complex and I would like to tackle it later as this "easy" problem has me quite upset. Thank you for anby help you can provide.

Regarding how and where to locate your captured movie video once you are in MyDVD. (See attached). Once you click on "Add New Movie" in MyDVD, it will take you to a screen that you can cursor to the location where you save your original captured movie. If you didn't specify an exact location, it will by default usually be save to "Videos" under My Documents.

Hope that helps.

Frank...

When you captured your video from the VHS, you were given the option to select where to store the video. Did you not make a note of that?

Of course myDVD allows you to navigate to where you stored your captured video. I have no idea why you would be getting the ""Please insert valid media." unless you are using the Plug&Burn option.

Perhaps if you explained exactly step-by-step what you are doing we can tell you what you are doing wrong. As Frank said in his post, the process to get the video from the VHS to a DVD is very simple and there is no "twisted logic" involved.

BTW, a standard 4.7GB DVD can only hold 60 minutes of video at best quality. If you are using DL DVDs then you can get a little less then 2 hours. To get more on the DVD you have to select one of the "poorer" quality setting.

Now that had you little rant, why don't you tell us exactly what problem you are having.

You started another thread where you stated a problem you were having. You were given a couple of responses and asked a few questions but never had the courtesy to come back and tell us if the responses helped or even to answer the question.
