Cannot capture

JakeMcL

Question

I've purchased Roxio VHS to DVD and can sucessfully install it. When connected to video player however, I see no image on the screen and the capture button cannot be clicked on.

I'm currently using red white and yellow leads into a scart block on the back of the video player. When the video is connected to the TV, I can see it fine and so I believe it to be an issue with the software. I have also tried connecting the capture device to all the different USB ports on the laptop and none have made a difference.

I am using a Dell laptop that exceeds all the specs on the box of the product. It's running Windows Vista.

I am unsure what version I have. Which numbers refer to that on the back of the CD envelope? I'm guessing it's 150332-01?

Thanks Jake

Just found the service pack 2. The first one said Windows 7 compatible version only so I went straight to number 2. Downloaded it fine. Unzipped and put it on the desktop as mentioned. I click on it, then run and it comes up with software not found, please reinstall even though it's on the computer and opens fine?

I have installed the Roxio Capture USB successfully and have the latest Roxio service pack installed. I can see my video running on the import panel, then when I press "Capture", the display of the tape freezes and my system locks up; I have to restart my computer to get out. I can't find any instructions that I'm doing anything wrong. I have a Sony video recorder, Dell Computer, and all leads are connected correctly.

Your version is more than likely already updated with the second service pack. That is why you are getting the cryptic message.

Thanks. I've redone the driver for the USB capture device and the problem is still there. Just going to attempt to find the driver for the video card and see if that makes a difference.

Edit: Just noticed it will allow me to press capture if using the integrated webcam, just not using the USB capture device.

Also as well as not being able to press capture when the video USB is selected, there is no preview of the video at all, the preview box is completely black?

I've got same problem. It seems to be the software or the USB device when using the S-video adaptor. I get audio OK when trying to capture from my VHS player, but no picture and a status of"No signal". The VHS player is sending the signal as when I plug the S-video output and audio outputs into my TV it works (albeit the sound is poorer quality than when connecting via scart to TV). So how do we get this resolved? I have a Win 7 version, have captured audio from my LP's so the install is good, but cannot see video from the VHS player.
