CD Spin Doctor 5.0.4t broken again

nailerr

Question

Not much to be said, continually fails to record from the digital capture kext.

I have run permission repairs, deleted all related files in Library, deleted, restarted and reinstalled the .kext from the System extensions. Nothing, wont work.

Again.

I hate to be rude on a developers forum but really this is becoming farcical, is there any reason to even open CDSD anymore? There appears to be a good chance that every other update has broken it.

For the sake of being complete though it is a MacBook Pro 13" Unibody from late 2009, OS 10.6.3 and I'm sorry for being angry but CDSD has failed me more times than it has worked at this point.

Toast is 10.0.6, CDSD stopped working after that update with the installation of the (latest?) .kext as I had the driver installed with the previous version(s) anyway. the included version of CDSD is 5.0.4t (v47) and until now it seemed to have been working, though I am not sure what the last version was now.

I am wondering if I can restore a version from Time Machine, but it was always shaky at best I had found...

EDIT-----

Well this is curious, if I get info on the actual package it is 6.1.2, but About inside the program reports 5.0.4t. What to believe? Either way it's broken!

I just looked and see that they didn't update that part of the About box. Oh well.

I had difficulty getting the audio capture support to work as well. I think I wrote about my process to getting it work in this forum. It involved trashing the CDSDAudioCaptureSupport.kext file in the System>Library>Extensions folder and trashing the Spin Doctor plist file in the User>Library>Preferences folder. Both needed to be deleted before a new installation could work. I don't recall if I reinstalled from within the Spin Doctor application or if I went into the Spin Doctor package Resources folder and launched the CDSDAudioCaptureSupport.pkg to run its installer.

Hope this helps.

Possibly the last line will, as I had done all the previous out of habit. Worth a try, thanks.

Sorry to have taken so long to reply to this, had not had the time. So. No. Still broken.

I undid filevault, removed the kext and all related files in my Library, rebooted (old windows habit) and ran disk and permission repair to be safe. Installed manually from the package content and... no.

I'm really quite tired of this application's continual flirting with faliure now but that does not stop me wanting to use it! I paid for it!

Thanks for the suggestion, but this topic remains an open issue.

The current version of Spin Doctor is 6.1.2. Which version of Toast are you using (you posted in the Toast 10 forum)? Are you using the latest update to that version of Toast?

Yes, there were problems with Spin Doctor in Snow Leopard but those seem to all be corrected with version 6.1.2.

Hello all!

Maybe I'm intrude, but I've installed Cd Spin doctor 6.x with Toast 10. But Now I've upgraded toast to 11 and I was hoping Cd Spin doctor would have been upgraded included with Toast... But no no no... It's still 6.1 and the update option in the menu is grey... So I updated manually to 6.1.1 but still no update option in the menu. Now I try update to 6.1.2 but then the version changed to 5.0.4t... And when I try install the audio capture software it fails. Maybe the doctor isn't totally ok with Mac OS 10.7 yet??? What you think?

Anyway, I try chat and messaging with the support staff......

The latest update to CD Spin Doctor is included in the Toast 10 software update from Roxio's software updates page. Toast 11 has an entirely new Spin Doctor X that is better with online audio capturing but not currently functioning very well in any other way. If you've downloaded the latest Toast 10 update then you have the latest version of CD Spin Doctor.
