Roxio Sound Editor

jade771

Question

Hello,

I am new to the forum and to Roxio software. I am trying to create an audio file in Roxio Sound Editor. What I would like to do is piece together clips of songs for a running program. I have figured out how to add my songs to the clip editor, but I would like to "layer" a countdown between clips. I have the mp3 file for this, I just can't figure out how to put the countdown over the top of the music instead of inbetween the clips. Does this make sense? Can anyone help me? I am a total noob when it comes to this, and I can't find anything in the help files that tells me how to do it.

TIA for your responses.

I don't believe I can help with a countdown between tracks. I do know that within Window Media Player, there is a Cross Fade feature. The amount of Cross Fade can be adjusted using a slide tool. Adjusting the amount of overlap (cross fade) can create a seamless transition from one track to another. But this is for a more or less continuous sound track. If you want to check it out, open WMP. Click on "View" (upper left part of WMA window). Then click on "Enhancements". This opens another drop down menu. Click on "CrossFading & Auto Volume Leveling". Another window opens showing two slide adjusters.

Thanks for your help, I will have to check that out. I'm thinking that the Dell version of this software is different than other versions. Finding any online tutorials has been difficult. I appreciate your time! Thanks again.

Thanks myguggi, I wish I had known that the Dell version was a downgraded edition, I don't think I would have purchased it otherwise. This definitely seemes to be the case. <_<

jade, what did you pay for the Dell version? Do you remember the name? There are several versions and products. If you bought it and it did not come free on your computer, then Dell should refund your money.

What are you planning to do with the Roxio product. If you have an idea, then we might be able to offer a suggestion concering what to buy.

Are you trying to create a seamless string of audio tracks so that when the tracks are played the songs seamlessly cross fade from one track to another?

Yes, this is basically what I am trying to do, except that I want to layer my 5-4-3-2-1-0 clip over the top of it at different intervals (to tell me when to start/stop running). So when the clip changes from a walking pace to a running pace I get a countdown.

Open Sound Editor and make a compilation adding the countdown where you want it. You can add as many tracks as you need so the music can be on two tracks and the countdown on the third. Note the violume will be adjusted so that you don't blow yur speakers.

Repeat as necessary with the three tracks (alternating the first two) to get the length of the workout you want.

Export the mix - if you need help, search the help file to export mix.

Thank you so much for your response. Here is a screen shot of what my version of Sound Editor looks like. This is my first attempt at using a program like this, so please bear with me.

When I open the program it looks like this. I have added one track. Unless I don't know where to look, I can't find the layer feature/mixer in my software.

If you have a DELL OEM version then you have a limited version of the full Roxio program with many features missing or disabled. The Mix Editor may be one of these. You would have to check with Dell to see what is and is not in your package.
