If ther music is from an online store, it may be protected by DRM and you may not have the ability to do it with anything but the IPod software and ITunes. triton3
Thanks for the reply. Used the split screen in Media Manager and navigated to the ipod in 'My synced devices' but for some reason I can't get the mp3 files onto it (which are not from itunes store). 'Sync files to device' brings up the orange progress bar but then I get a file transfer error message. I'm hoping I can use Creator Pro as there's a problem with the latest version of itunes which unables users to sync their ipod nanos.

If you plug in your IPod, do you see it in the top screen when you look at your devices?
triton3
Sorry, not sure what 'x' means. Have tried everything including uninstalling itunes as it kept launching when plugging ipod in. I can see the ipod in 'My Devices' but can't see the songs or relevant folders, only 'contacts', 'recordings' and a couple of others. I can copy up songs ok and the ipod responds when I syncronize but they don't seem to be on the ipod when I look.

I'm not sure where you can't see the folders; on your computer or on the IPod. I don't have an IPod so I'm flying blind. Are you copying the music to the proper folder. If you expand the IPod icon on the IPod, do you see folders? If you have all your music in ITunes, there is a possibility that ITunes added DRM protection to all your music files. What audio format is your music?
triton3
If I expand the ipod icon i get folders called 'Calenders' 'Contacts' 'Recordings' 'Notes'. No sign of the album folders or playlists. All the files in the itunes folder on the PC have an m4a extension.

These are the instructions Here is what I read when using another method: "Using your iPod as a disk drive for music and other files. Note: Syncing music to iPod is a one way street. You cannot copy music from an iPod to a computer unless you enable your iPod as a hard disk first and then copy music files to its disk volume." triton3
Thanks for the link. The PC is seeing the ipod as a disk drive (removable disk) and I can move files to it but how do I find them when using the ipod? Prehaps the song folders are only visible via itunes which I have since removed due to the 'sync' problem with it.

Perhaps if you want to send me one for a long term test (years), I could play with it. . In ITunes and in Media Manager, do you not see these folders? If you live near a big city, you may want to search for and go to an Apple Store for help. If not, refer to your owners manual; you may have to reinstall the IPod software (and update ITunes.) Be careful, you may lose everything on the IPod but it is no good for music now anyway. I use a Zen which does not think that everything has to be Apple or it won't work. triton3
Have spent hours trying to get songs from Creator onto my ipod. There's a folder named 'music' with 2 notes and opposing green arrows when the ipod icon is expanded. Looks like the files go in there. The orange progress bar starts when I sync and the ipod 'syncronizes' but songs don't appear. Rather frustrating. If there's no itunes fix soon I may have to get an mp3 player that works with Roxio creator.
triton3
Ok,have managed to get itunes working again with my ipod by resetting the sync history each time before connecting the ipod. That way it's seeing the ipod as if it's the first time. Unfortunately unable to get Creator working with the ipod but thanks for the help anyway.
