Hi. I'm brand new here. I rarely get online, anyway, but had some questions I got a ticket for this morning. I have not had a reply, and have spent all day reading the posts. I was just reading one when I got very interested in answering your answer. I don't know who wrote the problem and who wrote the answer, and in signing in to join, I lost it.
Anyway, it was about the cd burning program doubling songs. Yes, I, too have experienced that problem, though only once and in a little different way. I was finally burning three albums I had recorded myself many years ago on cassette (using Tascam 8-track, then Cakewalk AudioPro on the computer. One of the songs got tagged onto another song, and then that same song was in its proper place right after. I had a real hard time after burning several cds (and finding the problem) in getting that wav file separated back into 2, and then getting rid of the one. I'm sure it was my own fault in not understanding just how the program worked, as other files kept disappearing and appearing.
What I have experienced in doubling still may be a problem with me, but I know none of these programs has adequate documentation for people like me to even understand some of the terminology used in the blogs. Nevertheless, here is just one of the many oddities I have experienced using the Creator 2009. In working with wav files from old records (and obtaining those is another blog altogether) in Sound Editor, I have had the file double itself in length by actually putting 2 of the same files together. This has happened numerous times. Though I bought the program only to run the usb analog download for video, and to record my records onto cd, I actually rarely use the audio functions anymore because I have had such trouble using this whole suite. I bought this computer (HP Pavillion dv 6000 laptop, 32 bit, 2GBRAM, SP2, VISTA Home Prem) specifically for music and video editing. The Roxio Basic v9 that came on it never worked (the WMM and disc burner almost immediately stopped, and the wireless internet function was somehow disabled until last fall.) I'm not complaining, but it has been an uphill battle. What I know about computers comes from trial and error and having a Compac (Win 95) crash almost every day. I have probably reinstalled more programs than I've worked on. I've been mainly (and still am) editing on the Adobe Premiere 6 which is still my favorite editing program. I needed a way to transfer avi files from the HDD cameras their manufacturers don't see fit to put firewire on. As you know, the downgraded quality of making mpeg 2 into avi is not acceptable (And Premiere will not accept the speed of these new mpeg 2 files). I then put my edited video onto mini-DV tape (through firewire) and burn on stand- alone machines (again firewire). I wreck plenty of DVDs in that process as well, but not as many as on the computer. It is a better quality than the avi DVDs I have burned on the computer. If there isn't fancy editing to be done with the mpeg files, I will try to burn them directly on the computer when I can, until I get fed up with wrecking too many DVDs that haven't finished burning, that have weird audio problems, that won't play audio on my friends' old DVD players, etc. Then I go back to downloading s-video avi files.
I know this long story doesn't sound like a question, and it wasn't intended to be, but since I'm here: I have had problems with downloading music. I'm not sure I have the right usb driver, and I lost that thread hours ago. I can't even download with the Capture Audio function at all from the Creator 2009 (Special Edition). I have to capture video, then dump the blank video, keeping the wav file. This means the video camera has to be plugged in originally, though once it all begins to capture, I can turn the camera off. It is the oddest thing of all. But then, the wave files speed up and slow down. I know it is not the record player as it does this with tapes, and even with avi files. This is not a major problem with most videos except when it's video of musical groups, and also with final productions (on which I always add music) if I am going to burn on the computer. It is a major problem with record transfer. I have read the directions over and over, but cannot get the USB connector to download pure wav files. When that yellow RCA plug is not connected, there is no sound coming through the USB device. I know it's not the USB device itself, either, unless they're all defective in that batch because I bought the whole kit-and-caboodle twice (gave the extra to my brother later) just to try out the other USB device.
I will not be back again tonight, but will try to see what's on here tomorrow.
