Installation disk file not recognized

I've performed the clean install per the instructions for XP. Now when I insert the program installation disk #1, my computer doesn't recognize the installation file. When the D drive window pops up, it has a rectangular image instead of the Roxio logo. I right click and click OPEN and I get nothing but a fast-spinning disk. Can someone suggest a solution for me, please?

check there's no dirt (fingerprints, etc) on the disc

Open my computer with the disc in the DVD drive, right click open or explore the disc, double click the setup.exe...

 

If it still won't run right click copy and right click paste to a new folder you make on your desktop, then try and run the setup.exe from the folder on the desktop...

Thanks for the suggestions! cdanteek, your solution worked! I was able to paste it to my Desktop and install the program from there. Thank you so much!
