Question

 I currently have Easy Media Creato 8 installed. I want to remove it and install Creator 2010 Pro and Easy VHS to DVD.

I would… uninstall EMC 8 and then install Creator 2010, forget V2D and never look back!

But! There is NO conflict between EMC 8 & 2010 so you would not really need to uninstall it… On the other hand, there is nothing in EMC 8 that you will need unless you have a bunch of Labels or repeat Projects… They are not going to be compatible in 2010.

There is nothing in V2D that cannot be done better by using 2010!

V2D is a great little program for what it can do but pales when compared to 2010! And depending on the version (1.2.198) it may conflict with 2010.

I'm having a little problem figuring out how to reply to your message.

I hope this makes it's way to you

Here's where I'm at now:

I uninstalled Creator 8.

In looking over the Manual for Creator 2010 PRO, I can find no instructions on importing or capturing VHS video from my VCR.

This is my primary objective at this time – to get the video into my computer, edit it and then make DVDs.

That is why I bought Easy VHS to DVD. Then I got nervous after reading about some of the problems and conflicts with that software.

Can I accomplish my objective using only Creator 2010 PRO?

If so can the capture device that came with Easy VHS to DVD be utilized?

Yes 2010 will do more than you can even hope for with the V2D software…

I wrote 2 ‘How To’ posts on it a couple of years ago when the capture device was first offered and Creator 2009 was in production – Here

SKIP all the install stuff because 2010 does it automatically with or without the device connected!

There is another ‘How To’ on Plug & Burn – P&B

You are welcome to look, but I cannot stress enough that I do not recommend using this, nor does anyone else who took a few more minutes to learn to Capture-Edit-Burn!!!!!!!!!

2010 also has the Learning Center with online videos on how to do things and of course the discussion groups are like these.

Get a few DVD RW discs to practice on and save money and heartache by only buying Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden brand discs! (I’ll extend that to include Sony discs even though they make any ;) )

Ready for chapter 2

I insatlled 2020.....was successful.

It told me a certificate was missing.

I followed the instructons to correct that problem.

Said certificate was still missing and gave me a huge page of instructions to do a Complete uninstall.

I carefuuly follwed then and about an hour ago I compled the new Install.

Guess what?? Yep, same thing - the certificate is still missing or corruted and the patch doesn't fix it.

What am I to do ?? Alas and woe is me. I'm not much of a drinker but ..I have a large bottle of Gin and some fresh limes calling to me. If anyone can give me some help I will greatly appreciate it .

I'll check back here tomorrrow.

Sorry to hear that!

Print out the Clean Install and do it again slow and careful… There is something from the old installs that is interfering.

Telephone Support is available for 2010, so there is that option.

In the uninstall instructions do not skip or add anything and don't forget this note that is in Step 3.

"Note: Some anti virus/spyware programs may not be disabled using the steps listed above. You may need to check with your anti virus/spyware vendor on how to temporarily disable them".

I'd like to add a happy ending to my installation problem.

I contacted Roxio Tech support and found them to be very helpful and patient. Overall I did 3 complete uninstall - reinstall cycles and even went through a guided one in a chat session.

Each time I got the same result. (Certificate file missing or corrupted)

It always bothered me that at no time did the software ever ask for Disk 2 to be installed. It always ended Disk 1 with a statement to restart the computer so I did and then I installed Disk 2 (even though it was never mentioned.

Yesterday I tried again but didn't restart after Disk 1 completed. I just loaded Disk 2 and then did the restart.

Amazing -----it worked perfectly. No problems at all.

I told Roxio about it and they said they would pass it on for evaluation.

I'm not stating positively that it made the difference and I'm not curious enough to uninstall and experiment further.

I just wanted to let you know and maybe add a tip somewhere about the two Disks.

Can't hurt and my save someone a lot of time.

Thanks again for your help.
