Burning data in a DVD

Gents,

I am a begginer, so my question can be very very basic, but is an issue for me. I want to burn a DVD with data, but when I start to do so, only a CD is the available option. Please, can some one help me to clarify the procedure to burn the DVD? Thanks in advance.

First question is, are you sure you have a dvd writable drive? Could you please post your computer info as well?

To add to what beerman has suggested, what is the program in 2009 that you are using to burn your data disk. (I'm assuming that's what you are wanting to burn (data) as you use that term). If you are just burning "data", I suggest that you open up the "Creator Classic" program and after adding all the files that you want to burn as "data", make sure that in the options you choose the type of disk you need as far as available memory, depending on the amount of files you have added. (That option should be at the bottom of the screen).
