Sony Video 8 Handycam capture problem

gambler

Question

I just got this SW and when I try and capture video from my Sony Video 8 Handycam, I get a status of "no signal"; however, I get garbled audio and occasional flahes of video. To make sure my capture device was working, I hooked up my Panasonic miniDV and it worked just fine. So I think the SW / HW setup is fine. Is there a special option I need to set to capture legacy formats? Any help greatly appreciated.

No, if it has composite plugs, it should work!

Now some have reported trouble if they were using a recording setting on the tape of less than ‘SP’, like ‘LP’ or ‘EP’…

You may be able to use your Panasonic as a pass through to boost the signal.
