installation problem

sylvr

Question

I have tried to install this programme several times but have found this error code appears each time I try.

I have closed down all running programmes - including internet connection and firewall etc. but still couldn't install.

As I couldn't use this programme I reverted back to version 7 and reinstalled this one. I am now finding that I can't burn the slideshow I had made using version 7 to a DVD. I don't know whether these problems might be linked in any way.

I will post this problem in to the East Media Creator 7 forum.

I have just looked in emc7 forum and it seems my problems are probably being caused by internet explorer 8 and windows media player version 10.

Exactly - roll back to IE6 and earlier version of Media Player (if you want an up to date browser, use Firefox instead - that doesn't cause any problems)

You may have to go through the 'clean install' procedure first though

Thank you gi7omy, I do use Firefox as well as ie8. I only loaded media creator 7 as I was not able to get creator 9 to install and I would prefer to use the more up to date version if I can. If that is not possible then I will do as you suggest. Would that mean that I should remove internet explorer completely?

You need to roll back (uninstall 8 and 7 and stay with IE6 - same for media player.

However, if you installed those prior to SP3, you have to roll that back first

and both cause problems with EMC 7

If you are running Vista or W7, then EMC 7 is dead in the water unfortunately

You have to remember that IE7 is a Vista backport and IE8 is the backport from Windows 7

Thank you again for your help. If I am not able to find a way to install easy media creator 9 I will follow your instruction and roll back internet explorer and windows media player and use emc7. Would you know how I can get over the problem I have experienced with the error code when trying to install creator 9?

You could try the 'clean install' procedure in the pinned posts - be careful not to skip (or add) any steps to what is laid out to remove all traces of the original installation

I have completed the clean install but I still cannot get Creator 9 to load. When I try to install I get an error code - 010E.80070006.

It is beginning to look as though I now have a worthless programme.
